Hi, is anyone a member of the Official British Elvis Fanclub (in Leicester).

If you have ever been to Graceland through this club, if you brought a friend with you, do you know if they have to be a member too :)

Hi Bittersuite,

I was a member of the OEPFC of Great Britain many years ago but I got bored with all the politics between them and Sid Shaw's "Elvisly Yours" in London plus the addition of EPE's very own politics regarding the Fan Clubs and the use of Elvis' name. It kinda took all the light-hearted goodness of being an Elvis fan out of the equation.

Nevertheless, I presume now that if you were to book a trip to Memphis with the UK Fan Club that the person who is accompanying you would also be expected to become a club member - but, don't quote me on this.

I am only 'presuming' - a shocking thing to do, I know, but that is due to the recent promotion of "The Making of Elvis On Tour" DVD (I am just about to start a thread on this forum about this) and you have to be a member of the club to be in a position to place an order for this project which is to be released later this year.

I think it might be in your best interest to contact the club themselves about booking for Memphis - unless someone on the forum can help you with your query.

Good Luck,

NEA.

Thanks for replying. I'm going to ring the fanclub on Monday and ask if the person I'm intending to go to Graceland with has to be a fanclub member as well.

I wonder how long it takes for this trip to be booked up. The way things are going, with joining the fanclub and also applying for a passport, I think it will be around the middle of September when I'll be booking this Graceland trip - I wonder if that will be too late - God I hope not - this would do my head in if I missed out. I really didn't think they would be planning this trip this early otherwise I would have sorted out things much earlier

Hi Bittersuite,

It's always best to plan it well ahead in my experience especially if it is your first time going and you're going with a fan club.

I certainly enjoyed my time there in 2003 - trip of a lifetime, but I learned that on my next trip, which will possibly be 2007 (the 30th Anniversary), that I will doing a couple of things differently and seeking out a better package tour deal to suit my itinerary.

The first time I went with a company called 'JB Tours', and a friend has also used them of recent years, and as well as the language barrier problem (?)that he appeared to have with our accents, I felt that their customer service skills left a lot to be desired - never again.

Good luck Bittersuite and I'm sure that you will be boarding that flight before you know it - enjoy!

I found out today from the fanclub if I intend to go to Graceland through them, the person I'm bringing with me doesn't have to be a fanclub member. This is great as I don't really see the point in more than one member of a family joining a fanclub just because they want to go with you.

Well, I'm quite surprised at that bittersuite, nevertheless that's good to know...when your trip comes around you'll most certainly experience something very special - enjoy!
