Elvis At Vegas - Years 1970-73.

:clap: Being a fan for a long while now, and looking thru the changes in Elvis vocal arrangements and repertoire during the 1970s , I sat down and listened to a few cds that i own in my vast collection of Elvis.

The Vegas Years from 1970- 73 was Elvis' best yrs. at the Hilton Hotel.
Many fans attended the shows from all around the world to see The King doing his shows .

Elvis staying power was great during the 1970s and when he passed away .

In 1970 Elvis played to a vast number of audiences. People wanted to see him perform at every oppurtunity they had , and travelled many miles to attend concerts .- (y) .
His stage costumes started as White Jumpsuits, Blue Jumpsuits and got more flashier during the years of 1972-73.


When Elvis played in Vegas in 1972 - He sang progressive Rock songs such as Burning Love , Proud Mary, and such . The Opening Shows had celebrities attend his concerts such as Tom Jones, Dusty Springfield, Cary Grant etc . :cool:
Notmany shows in 1973 were filmed by fans , ( i bet they could not sneak camera etc ) to film shows. what a pity . - :hmm: I wonder if any were filmed ..-


After he performed Aloha - He jetted to Vegas and started his concerts there .The 1st show at Vegas was on Jan. 26th 1973.


To me - Elvis will always be an international superstar no matter what- and

Very interesting facts karlos!:cool: How long have you been a fan for? I've been a fan for probably over 20 yrs. The sad thing is that I wasn't born until after Elvis died:'( At least we still have his music. Elvis may be gone, but his heart and soul live on through his music.

Very nicely said, karlos. It is obvious that your are a true fan of Elvis. Some of Elvis' most creative years indeed were 1970 through 1973. You said it well.

Karlos...I have to agree with you 100% on Elvis in Vegas from 1970 through 1972!!! :cool:

HOWEVER...I have a different personal opinion of Elvis' shows in 1973. Right after the Aloha special, Elvis returned to Las Vegas for his January/February engagement and it has been documented that in just that short period of time between Aloha and the start of the Vegas engagement, Elvis' enthusiasm had diminshed quickly and the Jan./Feb. engagement has been described as basically decent, nothing more. Sadly, his Las Vegas engagement in August/September would be even more erratic, culminating in his bizarre closing night performances on 9/3/73, which were recently documented on the FTD release CLOSING NIGHT!!

Coupling these odd performances during the Aug./Sept. '73 Vegas engagement with Elvis' quick temper, lack of enthusiasm and basic indifference that he demonstrated during his July '73 recording sessions at the Stax Studios, it is easy to see why the people around Elvis were really beginning to worry about him as 1973 drew to a close!! :'(

So, I have to agree with you on 1970-1972 Karlos, but on 1973, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that one!! ;)
