Do you think Elvis remixes are a good or bad thing for his legacy, and what songs would you recommend for remixing?

I love the idea of remixes of Elvis' songs but the decision to which ones to use would have to be carefully thought about. Although "ALLC" did fantastic "Rubberneckin" was not so popular even if the video in my opinion was great it failed to follow "ALLC". In the new DVD "Elvis by The Presley" Lisa-Marie talked about this very subject and made it very clear that she would consider remixes again but I suppose she too finds this very difficult to decide which one to pick for everything about it must be spot on . I would hate to think that they just churned these out without any thought for Elvis' music and as we all know Elvis himself hated the fact of other people messing with his songs after he had recorded them. I wonder if Elvis would have the liked the idea :hmm:
Just my opinion,
love and peace,
Susan.

I think there's 2 sides to this.
1. NO, I don't believe that Elvis would like his music remixed and presented like a few songs have been. I recall reading quite a number of times where he hated people adjusting the sound he created.
2. YES, I do think they serve a valuable purpose of introducing Elvis' music to younger fans, while offering a more "fresher" sound to his music, especially for older fans like me.
Personally for me, I love them. I enjoyed ALLC, and I liked Rubberneckin' okay (but not as much). I'd like to hear some songs like What'd I Say, Let Yourself Go, Promised Land, Way Down, T.R.O.U.B.L.E. given a remixed approach. Would be quite interesting to see how they'd sound.:)

I personally don't care for the remixes.
I also felt then (when released) & now (in retrospect) that they wouldn't & don't withstand the test of time (ie: they don't hold up like the original / classics do). IMO, the remixes will ultimately fade away & be entirely forgotten (as they should be).
This, IMO, speaks volumes.
In essence, ........ it is a bastardization of EP's music (some songs more than others) ......... & I suspect that EP himself would not have liked it either.
The music speaks for itself. Always has & always will. It really doesn't need any "help" on this level.

The Rubberneckin' mix,I don't really like that much.Although I do
listen to it sometimes,I still think the original is much better.
My kids love it though.
A Little Less Conversation.I do like this remix very much, but maybe
thats because it's longer than the original.:hmm:
The remix of this is very good to dance to,if your into that sort of
thing. My kids are crazy about this remix.
I know alot of youngsters, do like them. But I also know
they also like the originals as well.I have heard them singing
American Trilogy in my local pub.And they know the words to it.;)
I wonder what Elvis would have thought of them ?
I know he did not like people messing with his music

I don't like remixes. I thought ALLC was okay. Rubberneckin' stunk.
They serve their purpose in exposing fans to Elvis' music. Though not in its original form.
Therein lies the problem. How many of these young fans after being exposed to Elvis through the remixes then when out and bought any of his original albums(I don't care which one)?
Not many I suspect. If the younger generation doesn't come to know/appreciate Elvis' music as he originally intended it to be heard then ultimately the remixes served no usefiul purpose(imo).

Elvis' ORIGINAL recordings stand the test of time and for the most part will never be considered outdated! But in the case of a remix, a song is remixed to fit in with the popular musical trends of the time and when that musical trend becomes outdated, then sadly, the remixed song also becomes outdated!
Of course, this is only my humble opinion....

I personally do not like remixes of Elvis songs . Ihave heard several mixes nand re-mixes . the ones that i have heard and own are are -
1. Baby Lets Play House -
2. Girls , Girls ,Girls medley -
3. Kiss Me Quick -and several others . -
I think that we fans shouldhear Elvis , the way he recorded the tracks (many years ago) and thats te way we can keep his memory alive .- (y)
I liked ALLC ,the way it was done and gave Elvis a number one selling record . That was good .- So if we get to hear another re-mix - everyone will be hopping onto the bandwagon and do well for themselves and they will just sell one record and move onto other remixes by the so called pop stars of today , and not Elvis .-
WHATDYA THINK-.

They aren't because they dont show the new fans what real Elvis music was like...
They are because they might get people into the new hip music that didnt really care for the old rock-n-roll.

All in all I think that remixes are Ok...personally I loved Rubberneckin' better than ALLC- it was less 'made up'...and the video clip was nice....
