:king: Hey Guys, It's been a good while since ive been here but I thought I'd come and vist as last Night I went to Elvis: The concert, (it was Elvis on the big screen with his band etc playing and singing live) and it was amazing! It truly was.
I laughed, I cried, I swayed and I clapped ALOT ( my mum too lol)
They used footage from several live shows including footage from Aloha From Hawaii, Thats The Way It Is and the 68 Comeback special and the audeience was just electric. Even though Elvis wasnt there in life you could feel him through all the people there. It's an undescribable feeling. Though we were quite a way back, we were facing directly at the screen and stage and when the close up shots of Elvis came on the screen and those beautiful blue eyes were looking out at the crowd, it felt like he was looking directly at you, its a really strange but great feeling it really was. The crowd was fab and the atmosphere was so easy to get caught up in, theres something about Elvis that just brings everyone to life and with the band being there live made it a completely new experience of Elvis for me and seeing him that way opened my eyes up even more to how much he has impacted on the world by how people react him, even now... When he played The Wonder Of You there was just a sea of people swaying side to side. When he played American Trilogy, I couldn't help but cry, it was just overwhelming with the sound and the band. amazing.:'(
As soon as Polk Salad Annie started everyone just started to clap. :clap:
Every song people were reacting to him like he was really there. In the 1st act the band performed a song called 'sweet spirit' that they had performed on one or two of Elvis tours and it brought a tear to my eye it was so beautiful.
In a nutshell I had a great time, the entire show was hot and i'm so glad i had the opportunity to go and see it and it was the closest best thing to seeing the real thing!

I hope that Elvis knows how much we all still love him.

Hi Sentimental,

I too was at the Sheffield Arena last night (30th April) and I share your sentiments exactly. This is the second time I have seen the show in 5 years, but this one I enjoyed much better. It appeared that everything came together just right....yes, the crowd were excellent too. And, as well as 'Trilogy' I remember 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'What Now My Love' and 'The Wonder Of You' as being a few of the most greatly-received performances from Elvis & The Band.

My tears arrived there too during the opening of 'Theme from 2001'/'See See Rider' and 'If I Can Dream' just to name a couple of occasions...Yes, Sheffield was Superb on Saturday!

cool :D yeah it was the 1st time me and my mum had ever seen it and we were blown away. Yes Bridge over troubled water was... wow! the whole thing was just wow! lol I went in so excited and i came out wanting to just go back and watch it all over again!

Beautiful post, Sarah. It's really a neat thing that all these years later you can go see an Elvis concert of sorts and people are moved in such a way that it almost is as if he's really there.

Whoever conceived the idea sure had a great concept. The cool thing about the shows is that with no Elvis onstage, you're really at no disadvantage if you don't have good seats. In fact, the "illusion" works better if you don't.

I saw the show in '98--the first show of the first tour actually, and I know there have been a number of changes in the program since then. I wonder if they'll ever come around to including Unchained Melody and possibly other performances from the CBS special (and footage). That would really make it special. Of course, I don't know if the show will ever come back to the States anyway (well, maybe Memphis during Elvis Week), so I may never have an opportunity to see it again.

The experience certainly did give me chills...Just hearing the 2001 theme, then that drumroll into the opening riff--stunning! Hearing Elvis music at the volume level of a real concert really makes it seem like...a real Elvis concert!
