Getting started

Hi guy's, some great cover's here but you all know that :notworthy :notworthy anyway i feel inspired to having a go myself can you recommend any download programe's or any tip's nothing to fancy im a complete novice so be gentle with me :blush:
Im sure you've been asked this before so if you don't respond i'l understand :'(

Don't really know of any download programs...with the exception of Gimp. Which i haven't used personally....but believe that it is quite a good program to start with.
Photoshop is the best on offer IMO. And that is what you should try for...even though it is very expensive. The next best...probably Paintshop pro...thats pretty good...and i do occasionally still use that.
