I would have loved to hear the song Satisfied (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/keith.flynn1/audio/13Satisfied.MP3) if it hadn't been destroyed by RCA all those years ago!

all the sun stuff is fantastic music i really cant chose some over the others
both the slow ?nd uptempo songs got such a free spirited feeling about it realy cool to listening to.hope that their will be some interesting new things on the new j?rgensen sun set well anything new from sun will be very interesting.what a shame that some things have been lost, butI havent giving up hope that something may appear in the future(remember the first 2 acetades when their turned up),but as the years roll by the chance looks slimmer, and slimmer.

Hi Keith. Who's singing that version?Come on TJ, I think you know it's my friend Jamie Kelley singing!

Keith

charlie rodgers
01-26-2005, 04:42 PM
hi keith f
jamie kelley is the best impersonater ive ever heard especialy on the early stuff and he really makes something out off the music backin too ,their get that right feeling for the songs im not in to impersonators, a lot of them just cant sing at all and most off them really is a pain to listening to but jamie is really doing allright he dont over do his singing like so many others do and he has a good understanding of elvis way of singing and the music and he really got some of that elvis sound and tone to his voice and his delivery and feeling is very good.

Keith F
01-26-2005, 04:57 PM
Yes Charlie, I totally agree, I wouldn't consider Jamie as an impersonator, he has his own voice, but it's uncannily like Elvis'.

I've known Jamie for a few years now, and I can honestly say he's one of the more genuine fans, and a true fan at that.

I think we'll be hearing a lot more of Jamie in the near future

Here's a medley I've done of some songs he's recorded recently

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/keith.flynn1/audio/jamie_medley.MP3

I'm sure you'll agree he has a great voice, and very similar to Elvis at the same age!

I've not heard many Sun sides but I enjoy "That's All Right" as performed in the 68 Comeback Special and "Mystery Train" as performed in That's The Way It Is. Other than that, I don't really know. "When My Blue Moon Turns to Gold Again" sounds like something Elvis would have recorded at Sun, and I enjoy that, too.

My choices are:
That's All Right
Mystery Train
I Forgot to Remember to Forget
Good Rockin' Tonight

When you consider some were recorded a year before "Rock around the clock" it truly shows when Rock'n'Roll was really born.

I wore out 78rpms especially, "Trying to Get to You", Mystery Train" and "Baby Let's Play House"....... etc........in 1957:-)

How can we leave out the other classics? The 12inch gate-fold album above has quite a few out-takes. Interesting to hear how some of the songs actually developed.

I love the r&b stuff over the country sides so my favs are:

good rockin tonight
milk cow blues
baby let's play house
mystery train

Oh, for me elvis came into his own with his 2nd single good rockin tonight. It's head and shoulders above that alright. He oozes confidence in a way that is staggering for a 19 year old white boy singing r&b in 1954. It blow's my mind.

1954 - Good Rockin' Tonight
1955 - Baby Let's Play House
1956 - Heartbreak Hotel
1957 - Santa Claus Is Back In Town
1958 - TROUBLE
1960 - Reconsider Baby
1961 - Little Sister

It doesn't get any better that that little collection.

"Hold It fellas, that dont move me, lets get real real gone for a change..."

It wasnt Haley, it wasnt Berry, all those came later, it was in those singles under the names of Elvis Presley, Scotty and Bill (THe BLue Moon Boys) produced and recorded by a guy called Sam Philips in Memphis were we first heard what we now call rock and roll, everything in rock music since 1954 till Led Zeppelin springs from there, even in today groups like the White Stripes, The Strokes, or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs we can hear the dealyed reververated raw energy and simpleness of the original basic rock sound created for the first time at sUn Studios with Elvis. Although this is not only about rock and roll music, but just about music making, about expontaneus creation and unmatched originality, about a sound that for many reasons created such a deep impression in our minds and still is capable to do it, as any true universal artistic expression; this is timless music, a sound that at least for me hits on a special zone and makes my heart beat faster, like remember your first love, or an image loneliness at moonlight driving by yourself, makes you feel awake and open, makes you feel good. There is something definetively haunting about this music.

Basic SUn tracks:

Milkcow Blues BOogie
Mystery Train
Blue Moon
Trying To Get TO YOu
I Forgot TO Remember TO Forget Her
Good ROcking TOnight
Thats All RIght
Baby Lets Play House

If you Havent hear those, if you dont dig those tracks, you may understand a lot of things, but you dont understand a thing about rock and roll... not even if people call you a rock star baby.
