There are so many good songs out there which ones make you laugh, cry, uplift or just give pause for thought? Some to start with: -

Edge Of Reality

"I walk along a thin line darling
Dark shadows follow me
Here's where life's dream lies disillusioned
The edge of reality"

Sometimes when I feel blue this sums up how I'm feeling.......... :'(

Petunia the Gardener's Daughter

I love Petunia the gardener's daughter
Oooh how that gal can kiss
Her eyes are blue as bluebells
Each cheek a rose to see
How I dance when she plants her two lips on me
I'm as daffy as a daffodil
I long to kiss her all the time
Tonight I'll steal into her garden
And make Petunia's two lips mine

Just for plain sillyness, this makes me laugh everytime I hear it :D

The Wonder Of You

When no-one else can understand me
When everything I do is wrong
You give me hope and consolation
You give me strength to carry on

Reminds me of the wife when it seems the world is against you

My Little Friend

My warped and worried mind resortd
To wandering off to ponder things I never talk about
A pretty girl I used to know but wouldn't know if we met face to face
And defying every logic known
I wish all the time machine could take me back again
To the wonder of my first love, the old folks tease me 'bout
Referring to her only as my little friend

Somewhere far away and maybe not so far away
The child has grown into a woman of the world
I assume just knowing that she knew so much of life at such a tender age
I learned from her the whispered things the big boys at the pool hall talk about
The thrill and disappointment, fear and shame that first love brings
But oh, how I thought I loved my little friend

The fragrance of the green grass mingled with the scent of love and warming earth
The moonlight night I kissed and cried and swore I'd never touch another girl
But time moved fast and I moved on and I loved others time and time again
But with each time I thought of her and always gave a little more
Assembled love and rememberance for my little friend
Oh-oh-oh assembled love and rememberance for my little friend
Oh-oh-oh assembled love and rememberance for my little friend
Oh-oh-oh assembled love and rememberance for my little friend

Just love this song  the lyrics the way Elvis sang it the whole thing :D

anyway, just a few to get the ball rolling.

ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE

Oh so listen to me get up off your knees 'cos only the strong survive....

Oh you got to be strong, you'd better hold on
Don't go around with your head hung down......

Only the strong survive

This is the one I listen to when things are hard and I want to give up - it makes me grit my teeth and right back on my feet again.(y)

A CANE AND A HIGH STARCHED COLLAR

Cowboy, cowboy marry me
I'll bake you a cherry pie
Well thank you very kindly mam
But I'm too young to die

This one makes me smile - every time.:D

DON'T CRY DADDY

Don't cry daddy
Daddy please don't cry
Daddy you've still got me and little Tommy
Together we'll find a brand new mommy
Daddy, daddy please laugh again
Daddy ride us on your back again
Oh daddy, please don't cry

This one just tears me apart - I think it is the saddest song Elvis ever sang.

And these are my choices Matt, hope you liked them.

What A Wonderful Life
It's a wonderful life
This life I'm livin'
What a wonderful life, days with a life of ease, oh-ho-oh
Well, I've got no job to worry me
No big bad boss to hurry me
It's a wonderful life life's good to me

It's a wonderful road
This road I'm travelin'
It's a wonderful road headin' beyond the hills, oh-ho-oh
Oh it may go straight or it may detour
But one thing that I know for sure
It's a wonderful life, life's good to me

I find this song uplifting! (y)

MY WAY
I've lived a life that's full
I've traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way

Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exception

This one makes me feel Elvis did it his way! :king:

"IF I CAN DREAM"
There must be lights burnin brighter-somewhere
Got to be birds flyin higher-in a sky more blue
If I Can Dream of a better land,
Where all my brothers walk hand and hand
Tell me why oh why oh why cant my dream come true oh why?

"All I Needed was the Rain"
Hello misfortune hows my old friend Mr Misery
I been away so long I bet you thought you'd seen the lasrt of me
Got no bed to rest my head, no doors or walls or windowpanes
Now all I needed was the rain, all I needed was the rain.

"Theres No Room To Rumba In a Sports Car"
Theres no room to rumba in a sports car
You cant move forward or back
Theres no room to do-what your feet tell you to
Without throwing your spine out of wack:lol:

These are my all-time favourite Elvis lyrics ...

You tell me just how I can take this yoga serious
When all it ever gives to me is a pain in my posteriors

From Yoga Is As Yoga Does.

Deep, man ... :D (y)

Cowboy if you'll marry me
I'll be your darling Jenny
Now why should I drink from just one well
When I can drink from twen'y

Hi-lo-do-si-dosy-do
Stay single and save a dollar
Come Saturday night I'll court a pretty girl
With a cane and a high starched collar

Cowboy, cowboy name the day
July 'd be nice I reckon
Gladly meet you at the church
July the 32nd

How The Web Was Woven
How the web was woven
In my soul, don't you know
How the web was woven
Can't get loose, can't let go
Like the weave of a spider
Wound around my heart
I'm no longer free
At last I'm where you want me
Don't you know, that's where I want to be?

This was a "haunting " melody to me. I liked to never got it out of my head.
I also liked It's Midnight and Don't Cry Daddy.

For inspiration: He Touched Me.
Just about any mood I found myself in....Elvis had a song for it.
