Did anyone read the book "Inner Elvis" by Peter Whitmer? Did you like it?
Does anyone know where I can get this book in Holland? It seems to be out of print... But I would love to read it!

Just why was Elvis all shook up? According to clinical psychologist Peter Whitmer, Ph.D., the King suffered as a "twinless twin," and was forever tormented by the death of his infant twin brother, Jesse Garon Presley. Some of the conclusions in this hefty psychological analysis of Elvis may raise eyebrows, as will some of the odd nuggets of information Dr. Whitmer offers, but even readers who take this book with a healthy dose of skepticism will have to admit that it's an interesting and offbeat look at a life that, 20 years after it ended, remains a perennial object of fascination.

I bought the book about 3 months ago on Amazon.com (US) along with about 20 others Elvis books. Have not had time to read this one yet though.

Greetings,
If you perform a "Search" on this site, .... you will find discussions / reviews that have already been posted on this book / topic.
------------------------------
It is a compelling & thought-provoking book - recommended, .......... but not without it's flaws as far as "sources" go. (That said, ...... what book is, truly, "perfect" in every sense of the word?).
I enjoyed the book, ........... and agree with some of its premises to varying degrees (not entirely, though, due to its over-reliance on highly questionable "anecdotal evidence" - <which, in reality, is an oxy***** in and of itself>).

I have had this book for years. It is extremely interesting and, if you are to respect the author's opinions because he IS a graduated psychologist or something like that, it is even a bit educating, in the sense that you kinda 'understand' certain personality characteristics Elvis possessed and how they originated. I have read it at least three times as I, too, have found in it certain information that can help me, er... describe myself.
I am by no means comparing myself to Elvis, but it is a fact that we all, we human beings, that is, possess certain qualities and certain aspects that we would like to be able to explain or, at least, to understand.
But I digress. Ask me what it is about the book you'd like to know and I'll gladly respond.
All the best,

Peter Whitmer doesn't know what he's talking about.
It's unethical in the mental health profession to treat and diagnose someone that's not a patient.
Peter Whitmer's theories and conclusions are laughable and in a way is disrespectful to the memory of Elvis Presley.

I agree, Brian. It is of course unethical in the mental health profession to treat and diagnose someone that is not a patient.
Peter Whitmer obviously has his own issues, that is why, in his case, he is in the "profession" in the first place - unethical slob.
Question - "Why is Whitmer in the profession?"
The reason, would be to make money, not to "Do no harm" if he remembers his Hippocratic Oath.
Who could believe a word he says?
I would say this gentleman made a diagnosis by proxy-he took every single ancedotle story told to him and assumed all were 100% correct and then added every rumor, truth, and everything in between into the mix-and decided he knew who Elvis was and what made his clock tick in the way it did.
Thats not the way his profession is suppose to work-and certainly he knows that.

:hmm: I wonder how much of his input is in Alanna Nash's book "Baby Lets Play House" (which I have not read yet), he was the first person she interviewed for that book (I read on Amazon in her acknowledgements (p.611)).

A lot.
That's the whole point of Alanna Nash's book.
Elvis never had a successful long term relationship with a woman because he suffered from twinless twin syndrome.
Elvis had guilt over surviving birth and his twin brother didn't so all his romantic relationships failed because of that.
When i say it out loud it sounds even more ridiculous.
