I have just had a telephone call from Anne Nixon, well known and long-time Elvis fan, and writer on Elvis topics.
FROM THE FECC BOARD & ELVIS: MOMENTS IN TIME (REX'S OWN MESSAGEBOARD):

It is with regret that I have to report that she informed me that Rex was found dead by the police in his home in the Blackpool area, yesterday. The police are trying to trace next of kin.

I knew Rex personally from the early 1970s and visited him about 5 years ago. He had established a website, Elvis - Moments In Time, in recent years and had a vast collection of first generation tapes and cine-film, mostly originated by himself from his many visits to the USA in the 1970s. From the late 1960s, he styled himself as "The Elvis Fanatic" and it was 100% true.

He was a friendly guy with a vast knowledge of the Elvis world. RIP, Rex.

This was both on Rex's own website/forum as well as the FECC forum. May he rest in peace...

My question is: Who will oversee the site or will it just die?

That's really sad. It bothers me to think some people die alone and although I never knew him, I hope he rests in peace.

Very sad news indeed. Rex and I go back a long way to the 1960's. A true gent in every sense of the word and a super Elvis fan. He was legendary for his Elvis News Service bringing us concert reviews etc., when they were rare on the ground. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

R.I.P. Rex.

Rex used to have an Elvis shop in Blackpool in the 80's, went in a few times.

Every year we lose people who offer a direct link to the days when Elvis was with us.People like him offered a lot to the fans.

REX was the ultimate ELVIS fan. I always respected his LOVE and LOYALTY to ELVIS. REX truly LOVED ELVIS and was trying to help keep the memory and legacy of ELVIS alive until he took his last breath. I will always have great affection and respect for REX for doing that. Praying REX is with ELVIS as I type this.

I didn't know him either, but it's really sad if someone dies alone. May he rest in peace.

I was just on his website and the members there, including myself, are going to do what we can to keep it alive for him and for Elvis's legacy. Even though I never "knew" Rex personally, he was always very friendly in exchanging PM's with me.

So true, each year the direct links narrow more and more.
