She's fading from the outdoor wear on the body of the plane (as can be seen below). Also the LM could use a wash now and then. This is why they need to make plans to put that plane indoors for their expansion plans. Having it outside is not good for its longevity and is ruining the paint job. EPE needs to TCB and show a little TLC to the Lisa Marie.

When I was there during Elvis week it did look like it needed a wash and a paint job. It wasn't quite as bad as what you see in that picture.

I watched a video that they had about the two planes. The video said the two planes were on loan from some guys down in Florida, that Vernon sold them not long after Elvis died. Now the video was old, so that may not be true anymore. I don't know if anyone has information about the planes, if EPE now owns them or not.

Yeah, that video is really old. It's probably the same one that they had way back in the early 90's when they did their last major upgrade of the complex. Did the video have the original pilot in it talking about the Denver visit to get some special sandwiches? As for who owns it, I am pretty certain that EPE now owns both planes. They bought them from the loaners when they began the expansion process that is now redesigned due to the economy.

Yes, I think it did.

My daughter saw the plane a few years back and she said it sparkled?
But anything outdoors (especially in the rollercoaster weather pattern of the midwest) will need attention.
I'm sure they will see what everyone sees and take action-but Apollo makes the purse string decisions so the budget allocations will have to meet their approval......if they are really serious about upkeep-Apollo will act.

I don't think it would put a dent into a budget to ask a worker to get on a ladder take a bucket of water and a sponge and wash it down. I mean, really?

No of course not-and I am sure that happens. But you were talking a paint job.....I mean really.....that is a much more costly and much more detailed procedure. My brother bought himself a new truck last year and had his 2002 Sonoma truck repainted to give to his son that cost him almost $700 bucks after all was said and done. All parts not painted had to be masked or taken off, all rust spots or mars in the finish had to be corrected, and anything that was chromed had to be redone.
Thats just for a small truck.
The Lisa Marie would be considerably more-I mean really its not a cheap proposition "you raised in the title of your thread"
All the good things that were done during this 35th anniversary year-the success of the celebration during Elvis week......and you find something to once again critic Lisa, EPE and their work. Sorry but it shows.;)
