Check out this picture I came across on an Elvis site.

Was the Madison Square Garden Shows filmed after all? I know The Colonel said at the press conference that he did not want to film there but could it be possible he was saving it for another movie project once "Elvis On Tour" faded out?

Does anyone know if this is one them Remote Pro-camera's or perhaps the Camera man just had it angled to capture the complete stage from that angle?

Click on Photo to Enlarge..Thanks :P

I believe there was a thread on this a while back but everyone basically said it was a news camera. I do think if there was great footage out there of that concert we would have already seen a DVD come out. It’s every Elvis fan’s dream that there is high quality video of the Madison Square Garden Concerts.

Yes, I believe is this one: http://www.tcb-world.com/threads/33924-New-footage-of-MSG-show?highlight=filmed
Elvis_° you might check out KPM's answer on that one, it might help, although yes, things aren't still 100% clear about the topic you bring here.

Anyhow, being 2012, I still haven heard any plans from either Sony Legacy or FTD to cover that event.

Have anyone?

Thank you guys for your help. I checked out the past Post on this topic. I guess whatever news channel or Joe Tunzi filmed it could be a possibility that the whole show was filmed. Tunzi's choppy clips go from Elvis still having his cape on from the intro till the final bow and exit.

KPM's answer on the older post stated that Joe Tunzi might have 49 minutes. 49 minutes is a lot of music in Elvis time. You cut out the introduction of the band section and 2001 intro and one or two songs that weren't his trademark tunes, could get you 49 minutes.

A 40 year anniversary release would be nice. That goes for "Elvis on Tour," High quality outtakes as well and the show when Elvis is wearing the Red "Burning Love" Jumpsuit.

I bet they'll have a ton of re-digitized "Aloha from Hawaii" stuff when 2013 hits. Probably a different camera angles version. Witch would be cool

Actually according to Tunzi -he does not have the footage, but he says he knows who does.
The Jonas Mekas footage, used in his short film "Mozart and Elvis", is held by Mekas he has never said how much footage he has.

Although I have not heard anything official, I would expect that we will probably hear anytime now that Sony Legacy will release both the MSG and AFTERNOON IN THE GARDEN albums in a 2-disc LEGACY EDITION release in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of those shows this year! :hmm:

Just an educated guess on my part, but I just can't see RCA/Sony passing this opportunity up... ;)

Right, but I just can't see RCA/Sony letting 2012 come and go without some type of a commemorative release marking the 40th anniversary of the MSG shows. ;)

what you see hear is a camera with a direct feed to those who were watching the concert in the press box , over the years many have said and suspected that the show was taped by this camera , aparently not the case . I would think and pray that these cameras were able to have reel to reel tapes like sonys handy cam from 1970- if that be the case , you can bet that this show does exist on tape and must be in someones hands.

the rumour is and has bin that the tv station did tape alot of the show at a distance ser by parker - he aparently caved from the requests of the ny press , and allowed one tv station to film , as he did for the august 72 nbc footage from vegas.

Yep, that's my bet too. Elvis: As Recorded At Madions Square Garden is for sure a "classic" album, and there hasn't been any upgrades on that one since the old 1992 Cd release, plus An Afternoon in The Garden proved to be a great seller until today, but the sound is to 90's now, a lot of digital eco and EQ that just doesn't fit today remastering standars concerning Elvis work. A new mix from that one preserving the original analog feel of the tapes (FTD style) would be most welcome.

It would be also a logic follow up to Elvis Country, so let's hope we will see that back in the catalogue soon.

Guessing Burning Love and Always on My Mind in the bonus singles area too?

noticable is that during this elvis in concert tour from this year, u could see a little bit of this footage on the side screens, on here we still dont have the great quality of the footage, but i noticed during the concert that the footage was alot better then seen here. my question would be, Was there a better source or did they rework that part only to show at this concerts, like they did with the angles of aloha that we didnt get on the deluxe box. i would love to have a aloha box set with all the angles like a 4 dvd set with each disc containing the footage that been shot from an angle that way they can leave the fans to edit aloha lol, because some of the shots in the aloha show i really dont like on particular moments

I am sure there is footage all the way to Polk Salad......over the years I have seen clips with sound from MSG on 20/20, on a newsmagazine special in the mid 90s on NBC in which some of the insiders were speaking about Elvis's prescription drug use, also about a year or 2 ago on the TV Guide channel during Elvis's birthday week festivities.
The various clips on various shows did not always have sound-but I do recall on 20/20 the clip was 15-25 seconds of Polk Salad "with" sound.
I have always assumed that whoever has this footage feels they have no legal way to use it-since the music is owned by Sony and the image of Elvis is protected by EPE/Apollo.

i have seen this footage to , back in mid 90's on NBC DATELINE show that featured an interview with lamar, billy smith, and marty lacker . They showed E.P. singing youve lost ..... and some more footege for the first time . I am sure that this show was recorded from start to finish and is still owned by nbc as is the vegas 72 footage. I believe the stuff that aperad on you tube with the time stamp is a copy from whoever owns the footahe or a copy of it.
