Of course he still is :D

But my question is...

Does Elvis still exist in the city where you live ?

Is there any radio station that plays his music to this day ?

Is there any statue or portrait of him hanging at your favorite hang out ?

Do you have some get together with another fans in your city ?

Some people here may not like this last one ;

Does Elvis Impersonators still perform in the city where you live even when it is not yet Elvis Week ?

Yes, I have an Elvis sticker on my car and even young kids, who see it, ask me about Elvis

besides the Oldies? no. but i always send in a request to the C&W station for TROUBLE & Honky Tonk Angel, they're my top 2 favs One of the Oldies Stations airs the Elvis Only program with Jay Gordon every Sunday. A great program
Is there any statue or portrait of him hanging at your favorite hang out ?
not in my town, but the burger bars in Houston and elsewhere do have Elvis booths
Do you have some get together with another fans in your city ?
only when the theater played Elvis On Tour. We all came out in our Elvis tshirts

we recently had 2 different Elvis eta's perform. I only went to see one of them. But we do have two fans who are great admirers of Elvis. One still sports Elvis hairstyle right down to coloring it jet-black. The other is an entertainer who includes the occasional Elvis song in his set.

Sure hes still famous, there are 2 radio stations which play his songs, one is a golden oldies back to the 1950s, the other plays hits from the 60s and 70s...but naturally no current station plays his music-the last time that happened was the ALLC remix.
Not sure what you mean by "hangout" but there is a restaurant which has his pictures on the wall, along with Sinatra, Monroe, Dean and believe it or not gangster photos Capone, Pretty Boy Floyd, Dillenger-never understood the connection.
In St Louis a large club called Blueberry Hill has a lot of Elvis memoriabilia along with things about Chuck Berry, Little Richard etc.....
I listen to Elvis with friends and my brothers at get togethers, parties, barbecues etc...
But putting all that aside-he is famous even without these things-people know his face, name, music-that were never even born in the 90s let alone all the way back to 1954.
As far as tribute artists there are several around the area who appear at local clubs, casinos, and private parties year round.

I am proud to say yes to all your questions. I`m from Norway, and the two biggest radio stations plays at least one Elvis song EVERY day (NRK P1 & P4).
I live in a little place with only 7000 people, but we are a bunch of people who hang out together (we are about 40 years old) who are "die hard fans".
We have a lot of fun. Next weekend we are going to Denmark to see Elvis In concert.

thank you LIsaRose, Ken and RogerM ... Interesting story. and St Louis is not so far from Branson, .. although i dont get together with any more Elvis fans from here, but way back in Indonesia, we used to have a radio who dedicated to Elvis every weekend at 8 PM to 10 PM.. the shows aired since the early 1990s I think...until i moved to States, thats where my interest grows.. now I have Sirius to keep me company with Elvis ' songs..

We have too many Elvis tribute shows in Branson.. most were .. well, i dont have much to say, they just sang Elvis' songs, but charisma wise.. Elvis is beyond compare. But this is what makes this small town quite different, the entertainment.

@LisaRose,.. I went to one where they had the review of his COmeback Special and Aloha from HAwaii.. this was 2005, in Oregon State... yep most fans wore their Elvis' T shirts but me :( I should known better :) not to mentioned some guys with Elvis-hairdo's.

@ Ken, I think the pictures was similar to what the called as 'American Icons' picture.. they are awesome,..Elvis usually with Marilyn Monroe and James Dean.. I think i saw one with Bogart, i might have been wrong :D

@ RogerM, You will enjoy the Concert.. i went to one during Elvis Week. God !! it was Awesome .

He's not played much on radio or music TV but he is still famous.
For example, I heard Siomon Le Bon talking on radio yesterday about his `little 'Elvis' experience when he split his pants on stage and had no underwear.

Elvis music is everywhere now, there are at least 2 or 3 commercials that feature Elvis songs, one is not Elvis singing, but Love Me Tender will always be an Elvis song, no matter who is singing. I'm hearing Elvis sing in retail stores, so his music is being included in the loops, and like I've said, I have an Elvis window cling on my car window - its a black silhouette and the young kids who wait on me in the drive-thru's know its Elvis and almost always make a comment about Elvis, or ask me something about him. I am constantly amazed at how he's beloved and popular all over the world, and I wonder how it came about.

That was the term he used. He said in the industry it is known as "a little Elvis moment"

We do have a restaurant with his picture on the wall and we hear him sing occasionally in stores and restaurants. We have a radio station that plays his music off and on and In Ypsillanti, Mi there is a yearly Elvis festival held by local fans.

You know - even 5 years ago, when people discovered I was an Elvis fan - the first comment - especially from younger people - was that nasty "he died on the pot,you know" comment. Now most everyone will ask me something about Elvis - just wanting to know little facts about him. I'm so glad for the turnabout, and I love t hat I can answer them, too!

BELIEVE IT OR NOT !! I've actually met an Indian lady (India) from Fiji who has never heard of Elvis. We watched "Loving You" and she seemed intrigued. She had some trouble with the Amrican accents though. My goal now is to convert and educate her.My God ! A virgin in all things Elvis. Does that sound right??? :D

In Poland, Elvis is loved and every year more and more popular.
Not met anyone who could not hear his voice or do not recognize. It is rather impossible.
Every week you can listen to the radio 'Yesterday' In Poland, Elvis is loved and every year more and more popular.

Every week you can listen to the radio 'Yesterday' which Elvis is the main hero.
We have an exclusive restaurant in the capital ( Warsaw)http://i.st-firmy.net/93sm3fl/restauracja-w-stylu-elvisa-pink-flamingo-sc.jpg where Elvis is king!
Annual events connected with the anniversaries organized FC 'Raised On Rock-Kraków "http://www.dworek.krakow.pl/elvis/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Plakat-na-urodziny-20122-300x211.png

Cliff - fun that you can create lasting Elvis memories with someone!
Evi - wonderful that you can hear Elvis on the radio. our radio stations play Elvis, but rarely. The Oldies stations play Elvis, but it's usually the same dozen or so songs, out of all 700+ songs he recorded!
my kids always dread those Elvis moments in the car when they hear me say "you know..Elvis did **fill in favorite Elvis moment here**, but they can say they know Elvis

Funny How Elvis 'fever' seems to grows stronger out of his own country, I am not saying he is not famous here,...its just the phenomena of new generations of Elvis fans are more from abroad... In Indonesia it still going strong,.. in fact they will have meeting with all fans there with band and live music to celebrate Elvis legacy,..they usually watch movies together on a large screen .

Cliff,...i am not surprised with so call Elvis Virgin   Keep us post of how converting goes hee heee heee

We don't have the Elvis song over here in NZ in the Axe commercial . As a matter of fact, I couldn't even tell you what they play in the background. Shows you how much notice I take.
I will keep you posted Buttonhead. Thing is, she's Hindi and loves her Bollywood movies. So, I have seen more Bollywood than she has Elvis, not that I'm complaining ;)

Of course, but I have to say the sorry state of American culture is keeping people like Snooki and Kim Kardashian in the news more than actual talents like Elvis and many others. Jon Hamm(my man) has had some interesting things to say about this recently.

It is funny when you think about how much of the world is just now discovering Elvis. So much of the non western world was still imprisoned by communism or despotic governments by the time Elvis passed in 1977. Just think of it all of Eastern Europe (communism), South East Asia (ravaged by civil war), USSR (communism) and many populations were not in a position politically or financially to enjoy our man. They are now discovering a gift that many American have taken for granted.

Love the "AXE" commercial, you have to keep watching because the smoothness of Elvis' voice with the chaos of the action is just too much!

I agree. I must have watched the commercial several times when I first saw it on TV. I love any commercials that use Elvis in their promotions. I wish there were a lot more every week.

I used to live near a McDonalds that we called the Elvis McDonalds they had everything Elvis in there. I am sure the owner was a huge Elvis fan. I use to love going in there just to see all of the Elvis memorabilia.
