Sonny my friend thanks for posting, its a nice pretty version but I like the way Elvis slowly builds up the song until the end and then your left with your jaw open. I never knew he Mickey had a nice pretty voice.
I read the comments after the watching the video and it drives me nuts when people say Elvis' voice was failing him in later life. I have to stop reading those they make me mad, I don't mind someone saying I like Mickey's version better, that’s their opinion. I just don't like when someone puts Elvis down for something that’s not true. Ok off my soap box.

I prefer Elvis' version as well! I read Mickey Newbury recorded it first in 1971, but Elvis put more emotion in it, I think. Especially when he sang it on the Aloha show. But this is my opinion only.

Nice but to me elvis did this song alot better especially the build up to the final climax of the song and the note elvis hits at the end just WOW!!!!
