Thanks for Brian, this was interesting about how they look at some of their marketing.
Scott said they have a very small budget for some of their marketing, I hate to hear that. Of course I could have guessed that. I know the presentation was on social marketing but there are not a lot of new things they are doing. These are small things for a larger than life celebrity. I do know the more you put the name “Elvis” in social marketing then the more people will see it. Its just a shame Elvis is not advertised more on tv and radio. That would cost a lot more money in their "small budget".
He kept using the word "brand" for Elvis and I know the image and name of Elvis is a brand. I sometimes think they forget that Elvis was a person with a huge fan base and not just a brand. If they would sometimes promote Elvis the person, the entertainer and not just the "brand" they could introduce a lot of new people to Elvis. I believe the brand and Elvis the entertainer are two different things.
You think about the images of Ali, Sinatra and the Beatles just to name a few. They are still promoted as a fighter and singers and not just a brand. Its almost like they do more to promote Graceland and not Elvis. If they were to promote Elvis more this would lead to more people going to Graceland.

Well I think you are correct more emphasis should be put on Elvis as the entertainer, the person of unbelievable charisma-but marketing people speak in marketing terms..... I can guarantee you that when marketing reps for Ali, Sinatra, Beatles, Jackson etc.....think of "their product" they also forget they were people.
Its sad but true.

it's inevitable I suppose, especially when they never had any 'personal', or emotional connection with him....

Sadly today people are only important as to how much money they can generate for someone else.
