Did the Elvis movies premiere officially? Was there a special opening for press and celebrities (like so common nowadays)?
I can't recall to have ever seen a picture of Elvis attending one of these. Or even Elvis attending a premiere from other movies.

Good question. I think Jailhouse Rock premiered in Memphis. I don't think he attended that one either. I hope to hear some other responses.

Love Me Tender had its premiere on November 15 at the Paramount Theater in New York City there's photos of the giant Elvis above the theatre.
Loving You premiered in Memphis on July 10, 1957 at the Strand Theater
Jailhouse Rock premiere was on October 17, 1957 in Memphis.
King Creole had two premieres at Los Angeles opening: 2 Jul 1958; New York opening: 3 Jul 1958
I just did a search and found this info some from Wikipedia some from Elvis.com.au
I do not recall as a youth any special news about the premieres of Elvis films, you would hear about the new ones coming up in movie mags or from fan clubs.
Usually I would hear about the release in my area on radio or tv.......l would take a guess that Elvis did not want to attend many of his films openings because he was not happy with the films....the ones he was proud of such as Flaming Star, King Creole, Jailhouse Rock he would probably have been afraid to attend for fear they would not be accepted as well.
Like all of us-if we are proud of something we have done its natural to want to see the validation of your work in the eyes of others - perhaps fear of not getting that acceptance would have kept him away.
The studios/producers set up the premieres and openings-and that costs money.....so its no wonder his films were not given that type treatment....
Hal Wallis took the money he made from Elvis films and produced his "serious films" which did get the A treatment with premieres, press tours, etc...... such a slap at Elvis's acting ambitions.
