In honor of what would have been Elvis' 77th birthday, the Viva Las Vegas club (www.vivalasvegasclub.com), with permission of the LVH, decorated the King's statue. The former Hilton, now LVH (www.thelvh.com), still has Elvis in the building and fans are assured, he isn't going anywhere!

Thank you for posting. I am so glad they are not moving the statue. I was worried they were going to get rid of it when they changed the name. I hope to go to vegas and see the statue someday.

Let's apply some logic to this. Hilton gave up ownership to this hotel about 1989. The property (hotel, grounds and yes, the Elvis collection) has changed owners several times since then. Hilton Corp only collected money for use of its name for licensing , for the hotel reward point system and for the worldwide reservation system. The hotel has not been a real "HILTON" for years....
With so many owners, the statue has never left the building. Why would it leave now? The Hilton doesn't own it, currently Colony Resorts does.
I hope that clarifies.
The hotel went thru a major makeover in 2006 with beautiful results. Besides the statue, photos of Elvis were installed in various places inside. They honor his memory. And my club appreciates their support of our effort every Jan 7 and Aug 15 to remind the world that he has fans and that this town still celebrates him. I am sure any owner of the building knew and knows now, that to remove Elvis from their history would be a bad publicity decision.
There is more to visit about Elvis in Vegas. I hate to advertise, but it can't be helped. I have a list of places in Vegas where he was and many pay tribute to that with some kind of mention. You can visit my club website for more information.
