July 5: "Today is Sonny's 73rd birthday. He is still in ICU. Before I left I gave him a gift and Jennie Carpenter had brought him something Sunday which I gave him yesterday. Judy was not at the hospital for the 3:00 visit...

Hopefully Sonny will continue to improve. As I've said before, regardless of whether you like him or not, it's always sad to see someone from the Elvis world (or anywhere, of course) going through something like this.

After loosing Lamar, I don't want to see know one else go, Sonny is a good guy and loved Elvis, and I hope he continues to fight this. stay strong.

He also sold Elvis out too when he joined in with the book Elvis-What Happened. Not a fan of those guys at all.

I met him once,.. he was actually very very nice, I remembered him thanking me for coming to his book signing at the Peabody Hotel , I agree with JungleRoom Mike and Unchained Melody , despite what happened in the past, which was more than 30 years ago,...I guess we all Elvis fans can pick which side they wanted to be at and agree to disagree... Get Well Soon Sonny..

Sandi Pichon, is very close with Sonny and his family and she is usually in hourly contact with Sonny's wife, and the Hospital. If you are Sandi's Facebook friend the you can read he updates on Sonny each day.

Sonny West continues to be in my thoughts and prayers.

Sonny has congestive heart failure. Usually that means it's just a matter of time before someone passes. However, sometimes it depends on how physically strong a person is and their age to determine if they can pull through. But the odds are certainly against Sonny at this point. Myrna Smith died of congestive heart failure as a result from kidney failure.

I will give Sonny some slack since he did find God and changed his life and worked hard to regain Lisa and Priscilla's trust.

Congestive heart failure is what my mother is suffering.....that along with COPD and several mini strokes over the last couple years. (LIFELONG SMOKER)
Depending on the person-it usually ends up being ER visits (5 in the last 2 years for my mom) and short hospital stays.....until the fluids build up so badly that they have to stay in the hospital for longer visits and then death.
How quick this all happens just depends on the person. My mom was given 3-6 years if she takes it easy that was a couple years ago.
Hope Sonny has as much.
