I found this picture on Google Image's and thought it was an interesting picture. The problem was the picture has been damaged and so I thought I would have a go at repairing it.
I then looked to see if I could find it elsewhere and found it on Paul Sweeney's Candid Central. The story is that Elvis went to Dave Heblers karate studio in September 1972 and his hair was a mess so he wore a turban! I know, the thought of Elvis wearing a turban is a bit ludicrous but there it is...

I've read some MM stories about E and the turban. It is cool to finally see an actual pic of him wearing it. Thanks!

Dave Hebler also said on his Facebook page that the Turban Elvis is wearing is from Harum Scarum. Elvis told him this

Strange that he would keep a turban from a movie set :hmm:

I don't remember any scene from that movie in which he wears the turban on the pic. Maybe Elvis was only joking?
That coat is so cool!

Maybe he was having a bad hair day?

You know, this story of the turbin sounds fishy and sort of a coverup to me. A bad hairday, so he picks a turbin up to wear of all things? I don't buy it. For one thing, a turbin is worn by middle easterners and the people who met with Elvis that night were from India. What I think was going on was that Elvis was showing repesct to their culture and was trying to "fit in". In Christianity you are supposed to believe in one God and not follow other religions. Elvis might have been Christian but there's evidence of him supporting other religions as well. Just wanted to point this out.

I see your point. Maybe your right. But when I'm around Jewish people I dont wear a yarmulke or when I interact with Arabs in the grocery store I dont choose to wear a crochet taqiyah. Who knows? Seems to me that Elvis was the benchmark and the Indian people would have been trying to impress him. I guess that just goes to show you what kind of heart Elvis had.

The turban is not a cool look-it seems odd.
I think if he thought it was better than a "bad hair day" he may have actually been wrong.

i read i think in Priscilla's book that he kept the whole Harum Scarum outfit, baggy paints, turban, whip etc cause it made him feel like Valetino.
