Now that the owners of the EOT footage have seen the popularity behind the theatrical release of EOT last year, I wonder if they will consider doing a new documentary using the outtakes to create a new movie? They could make it like Michael Jackson's This Is It where it starts off with rehearsals leading up to the live concerts. There's said to be 16 hours of unreleased footage sitting in the vaults. If not a movie then a new dvd project of the lost unseen concert footage would be a major hit financially during the 35th anniversary year of his death and the 40th anniversary of the lost footage.
If not that then what about a new Lost Performances dvd from 1970 and 72 footage?

It would make sense to release it that way. I mean, it's the only special about Elvis touring period. And since there's no artist that earned RCA more money than Elvis, they pretty much owe it to him.
But then again, we know how RCA/BMG/Sony/MGM/EPE think, so I guess it's not going to happen that way.
So how about this: there are websites were people can show their (product) ideas. People interested can support this idea by donating $100. When a preset target is met, the product is going into production. The donators get their product for free (and sometimes a percentage of the earnings). If after a certain time the idea flops and isn't going into production, all donators get their donation back.
Wouldn't it be great if we -the fans- along with EPE would do the same? Pay for a new, complete On Tour boxset that hasn't even been made yet? We all raise the money and have EPE double it. With that money EPE can buy the rights to the On Tour Outtakes from MGM. Now they can work on this boxset themselves, along with MGM (who still owns the right to the cinema version of On Tour).
Let's say that we donate $50 (with the right to get it fully refunded when the project doesn't continu, or get a free version of the boxset). If 20.000 fans can do that (within a time span of about 1 year), there's 1 million dollars on the table for the otherwise useless outtakes footage?

Ohhh!! Me too!!!!!!!!!!:supriced:
I'd love to see something like this happen, I have seen clips on line which look clearer and crisper than anything MGM/Turner/Warners has put out of outtakes from both TTWII and EOT-the real problem is how much would the studio want for all the outtakes and original negatives they own?
I would think that since EPE does not have them-its because of an unworldy price that the corporate studio wants.
EPE went after all rights with a vengence to The 68 Special and to the Aloha special because of the way the Colonel set up the original contracts for them-but that is not the case with either of the concert films.
I think the "studio knows that this is a golden egg over time"-if they put out dribs and drabs they know they can milk us loyal fans for years.
As film restoration technology gets cheaper and easier by computer-they will work on the outtakes when they want to milk us, and they will spread it out over time.
I probably will not be around long enough to see all of the great clips they have released in theater quality picture and sound come out I am sorry to say.
