I was speaking with an old friend of mine who lives in Memphis and he gave me some sad news The word around town is that the city is about to spend nearly $200 million on redeveloping the rundown fairgrounds and stadium and adding retail and entertainment venues to draw people there. That's the good news. The sad news is that the famous Mid-South Coliseum is scheduled to be demolished as part of it and replaced with a newer smaller 5,000 seat arena. It's said to be unsafe and remodeling it would cost way too much.
I understand everything has its lifeline but it's still sad. Another piece of Elvis history to be torn down, and in Memphis.(n)
