The United States hands down. It all started with Mississippi Delta blues here in the South. Without the blues nobody would have been doing their thing. Elvis, The Beatles, The Stones, Led Zeppelin and others have been quoted on paper acknowledging their debt to the American blues. Black American gospel set the stage for Soul in the 1960's. Not to metion the evolution of country music that has came out of Nashville since at least the 1950's.
