I'm sure this has been asked before, but I remember hearing a kind of disco version of 2001 opening an Elvis concert. Anyone know the dates this happened? Thank you.

The jazzed up version of 2001 was based on the version by Deodato which was a huge hit in the U.S.A. in 1972, the same year as Elvis started using his version. You can listen to Deodato's version on YouTube if you wish.

Elvis started to use his version in january 1971.
