How many songs did Elvis exactly record & sing live? I only know that it are more than 800 songs. Does anyone know the exact number? Or does anyone know a website on which there is a list of the songs, a list that really is right. I know some pages but it seems like there are songs on the list he never sang.

I remember I read on the net somewhere that Elvis sing around 1500 songs ;)
because I find out it at school time when I talking about Elvis for many years ago in a school lesson.

I hope someone finds a website where all songs are listed. But a website that really says the truth.

Nicole, try Elvis Presley on Anis Online. I think they list all his songs there...but I've never counted them. They have the songs and all the words to them.

Well, do you mean just the ones RCA oficially released in Elvis life time? All the songs he ever recorded in the studio released or not? recorded in the studio plus the songs he only did live? plus the ones we know he did live or at rehearsals but there is no profesional recording of it, or there's not even a recorded proof of it? (As we know from reliable sources that Elvis rehearsed full versions of Matchbox for his '69 vegas shows, or Delta Lady for his feb '70 ones, and he might even played them live once, but there are no tapes of that.)

Well a good start would be counting the tracks on THE COMPLETE ElVIS PRESLEY MASTERS BOX SET released last year, minus the last 3 cds which are about outakes and rare stuff. (Oh and minus the songs he recorded twice like Blue Suede Shoes or Love Letters, or the songs that were released multiple time in live albums). Then we need to consider if we are going to count the outakes, demos, home recordings, live rarities, rehearsals, oneliners etc. and based on which criteria.

This is a great task. Great Thread!

he often did songs in concert that were never recorded for release

and he did a lot of jamming before recording sessions and after concerts

so, thousands of songs

I just looked and the numbers vary from 700 to 1,000. That is a very good question and one that I would like the answer to.

Thats a great idea ROR. Who is going to spearhead this counting. Its too bad we couldnt start a list somewhere on TCB world that could be added to/moderated.
