I believe if CBS had filmed the Special in 75 with Elvis looking as good as he did in the shot they used for the CD release, there would be official DVDS/CDS with new sound, books , posters, all sorts of releases, and u would be able to openly purchase them ;) without the need for a boot label to step in :'( ur opinions guys ?

Sounds about right to me.Hard to say why there is such reluctance to have an official release of "Elvis In Concert"...it`s not like the tapes are all locked away where nobody can see them...anybody who has spent any amount of time on youtube (fan or otherwise) will have come across footage from it.

That is entirely possible. They should have not been so superficial and released the 77 version anyway, imo.

well, they need to do something before they are public domain if they want to make anything off them

or try to do something like, well, the final curtain set, that treats the time period with respect

The worst thing that could have happened to Elvis was allowing CBS even near him in 77. Now the image everyone knows of is that one from their cameras. While 75 was better, the spring of 74 was probably his best tour post 73 that he would ever again have. The homecoming shows in Memphis or the LA shows in May would have been ideal for a tv special and presented a much better Elvis both physically and mentally.

The photos often used from February '77, when Elvis looked his worst, were enough to derail Elvis' image.
Releasing a properly edited EIC today would do nothing to damage his current status.
