Axl Rose Victory Or Death Tattoo And The Elvis Presley Connection


Victory or Death. Guns N’ Roses‘ Axl Rose has the emblem tattooed on his left arm and the saying dates back to the Ottoman Empire and The King Elvis himself.

It is also visible on the yellow-and-red regimental emblem in some photographs of Elvis Presley during his Army service in Germany with that regiment, and in his later film “G.I. Blues”.

I'd say that's a very weak connection

the symbol isn't unique to Elvis, so really, it's just that that Elvis wore the symbol as standard issue

and Axl tattoo'd it for whatever reason he had.

If you want to connect Axl to a 50's rocker, then the easy one is one of the Everly brothers - Axl had married a daughter of one of them.

Elvis never choosed to use that emblem, it was just something that came with the uniform, so every G.I. at the time and at that regiment used it.

The post doesn't says the reason Axl choosed to use it, we will need to ask him the story.

Liam Gallager (Oasis) is another story, he has the TCB patch tatoo, now that's one Elvis made up and used in his Karate outfit and stuff.
