Did Elvis ever meet Cliff Richard?

I've just seen an interview with Cliff and he talks about religion a lot and it made me wonder if they had ever met and how they would have got along if they had :hmm:

No. Elvis never met Cliff Richard. Cliff did go to see him in Germany when Elvis was in the army but he was away at the time. I believe they would have got on very well.

I didn't think they had. Shame really. Like you say, I think they would have got on really well.

I`m sure i heard Hank Marvin once say The Shadows were given a tour of Graceland by Vernon whilst on tour in the USA in the early 60`s. Just thought i`d throw that one in there!

He had a opportunity in the 70s.
"I was doing an interview when I was promoting my record Devil woman in the states.A journalist said he was a friend of Elvis and that if I was interested because I had told him how much Elvis was my inspiration he could arrange a meeting.Like a fool I turned it down because Elvis had put on weight I said "Do you mind if we wait a year or two when he makes a movie he'll look great again.Of course I could kick myself .I think I would have liked to have met him anyway so that was a big mistake that I made"
Cliff went to Graceland while Elvis was making Viva Las Vegas .Vernon went to see him in concert and invited him to graceland

Yes I remember reading that he turned him down for a visit.

Always thought the fact that Elvis had put on weight was a reason for Cliff not to meet him was a pathetic excuse. Then again Elvis may have had no interest in meeting Sir Cliff of Richard.

He didn't seem that bothered about meeting the Beatles either by all accounts.

i always thought that story was strange and a bit shallow about Cliff not seeing Elvis in the 70's because Elvis didn't look his best. If i had had the chance to met Elvis i would have been there fast as could be.
