Is this true? A website says Elvis had a tattoo

I think its safe to say he didnt have a tattoo. I cant see Elvis wanting a tatoo. Were tatoos even popular before perhaps mid 70s?

Thats a question that could be asked about alot of stories in the Elvis world. Self publicity for the person telling the story? money for an 'inside' story? or it could just be something they've heard.

Tatoos where popular in the U.S. since the 50's but only among certain population. Yes you are right, it was around the mid 70's when they became popular among anybody.

The latter I've seen a picture of Elvis without a T-Shirt (like on the beach or swiming pool) are around 1971, and no tatoo can be seen.

The only chance is that he might have got it somewhere during the latter days, as no pics of him without upper clothes are taken as far as I know. Yet, nobody close to him -memphis mafia, pricilla or lisa etc- neither any of his serious biographers like Guralnick have reported that he got a tatoo.

In all the photos I`ve ever seen of him, I`ve never found a tattoo. Not to say it couldn`t be true, I just haven`t seen it.
