From ElvisNews.com:

According to Ernst Jorgensen the two Chicago shows just announced by Gravel Road will be released on FTD this fall.

This is the information I found on the "Gravel Road" releases, also from ElvisNews.com:

Gravelroad Music is very pleased to present TWO new CDs in excellent sound, as fans have come to expect from us! We do listen, and present these shows in two beautiful packages.

- Both are deluxe digipack filled with related photos and show reviews
- For the first time, our October 14, 1976 disc has all the tracks are in their proper sequence
- Distortion and hiss have been removed
- Tape damage has been repaired
- The sound balance is corrected
- Both recordings now feature more detail, with a fresh, clear sound

On top of this, both evenings are of a very high standard for Elvis in 1976. This should explain why Gravelroad Music is now offering fans these two great nights! These shows are direct 24Bit transfers from the original soundboard tapes. Only the quality of reel to soundboard tape transfer limits the reproduction to CD.

ELVIS - THE HIT THAT SAVES THE DAY – THE CHICAGO CHRONICLES VOLUME 1
14.10.1976, Thursday (8:30 P.M.) Chicago, IL, Chicago Stadium
When Elvis stepped onstage Thursday night at the Chicago Stadium, the audience was in for a pleasant surprise. In a phone conversation with old friend Red West, Presley revealed that his painful colon condition had gone into remission. Thanks to this fortuitous circumstance, Elvis looked better than he had for several years. He was decked out in his Inca Gold Leaf suit, which had not been worn since 1974. And he gave a far better show than he had on earlier dates that year. This time he interacted with his audience a lot more, treating the proceedings with far less formality. The fans certainly enjoyed the chance to see a little bit more of his personality.

Elvis' Friday night show had actually been scheduled to be the tour opener, with the Thursday night performance being added due to overwhelming demand. Wearing his Indian Feather Suit, Elvis sounds more confident than he had the night before.

Personally, the number of '76 shows that FTD has released lately really makes me believe the vaults are truly getting thin on shows from other years. Plus, with the recent release of ELVIS ON TOUR on DVD and the fact that Elvis Week 2010 is showcasing ELVIS ON TOUR, I'm a little perplexed as to why FTD didn't release one of the shows recorded during the filming of EOT. :hmm:

However, I have heard these Chicago shows before and they are definitely much better than most of the summer '76 shows, so it will be a treat to have them on FTD! (y)

Elvis sang a frog out of his throat during the reprise of the song Hurt. That's the show I remember with Steamroller Blues & Blue Christmas.

One thing is very interesting - it seems that 15th Oct show is going to be released in full for the first time - on Bringin´ The House Down is written that See See Rider was not recorded by sound engineer... :)

I can really enjoy a mediocre show in great soundquality. So bring it up either one of the two :D

I don't think it discourages the bootleggers to release the same shows on FTD months later.

Well in the case of this one, the import label that was planning to release these Chicago shows issued a statement stating that because FTD was planning on releasing these shows on their label, Gravel Music was pulling their version of the project and asked for fans to support FTD's release of these shows!! Looks like FTD showed the bootleggers a thing a or two this time.

I'd go for the FTD release anyways.

What a disgusting attitude from FTD.
Release something new,you have enough unreleased soundboards from this tour. I already have both shows so at least i will save some money this time.
But i have to say that i'm really disappointed. Re-release again and again...
I won't support the label anymore and i will rather buy CD-R copies.

That is a fantastic gesture of the bootleggers. That really shows the difference between a normal record company and the bootlegger: not only the passion for the product, but also the heart for the artist (and his fans).
