Bill Porter dies - Elvis' sound engineer

Bill Porter (June 15, 1931 – July 7, 2010) has passed away. Bill was an American sound engineer who helped shape the Nashville sound and recorded such stars as Chet Atkins, Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison from the late 1950s through the 1970s. In one week of 1960, his recordings accounted for 15 of Billboard Magazine's "Top 100," a feat none have matched. Porter mixed concert sound for Presley from 1970 until the singer's death in 1977. For his achievements in improving recording studio practices, he was inducted into the TEC Awards Hall of Fame in 1992.

I read the article, very cool. Mr. Porter mentions the last he recorded for Elvis was at his funeral. Man, I'd love to hear that tape, the songs, the singers emotions, etc. This is the first time I've heard the funeral was recorded. Anyone else have any knowledge of this?

No, never heard that before. Does somebody remember which where the gospel groups that sang on Elvis funeral?

Anyway, I guess that tape is on Elvis family hands, and fair enough will remaind there. Can't see FTD cashing in for something like that.
