I came across this in the Memphis Commercial Appeal yesterday while browsing. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2010/jul/07/mid-south-memories-delighted-to-03/?partner=yahoo_feeds
50 years ago: 1960
Elvis Presley has been told to practice the fast draw and brush up on his horsemanship. The Memphis rock and roll singer was given these instructions by the Hollywood movie makers before he came home on vacation between pictures. When Elvis returns to Hollywood (probably within two weeks) he will report to the 20th Century-Fox studios to start filming what has been billed as a "dramatic Western." The movie hasn't been given a definite name. It is based on the story "Flaming Lance." Elvis has just completed a movie, "GI Blues," which is scheduled for release in November.
Of course they were referring to Flaming Star.
