What with the great reissue remasters we're getting now with the 75 series and FRANKLIN of course, has it made your older collections abit redundant ? Will it stop u playing them as much now we are getting superior mixes, or will they keep their own charm ? http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/undecided.gif be interested to hear ur thoughts ... http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/winking0001.gif

I still will always play my old CDs. I have no interest in buying the new collector CD's that are being issued.

I just think the original sound is gold. If they're planning to make remixes or any of that stuff, it won't work. Why they always want to add and add and add all they can to Elvis' voice? The true is: Simple is beautiful.

Same here. This site has peaked my interest in getting some of the FTD stuff, but I have a pretty extensive masters collection now.

I, for one, am sick to death of "remastering".

Audiophiles are some of the most annoying people on the planet.

How many times can Elvis' classics be remastered for "better" sound anyway?

All one needs for a good listening experience is a halfway decent player with a bass and treble, right and left speakers.

That's it. The rest is pure pretension.

As for the early stuff, basic mono is fine and dandy.

I have to agree with you on this Getlo. While I truly enjoyed the sound quality on the ELVIS 30 #1 HITS CD when it came out, I think the success of that album only served to give RCA the feeling that they could simply advertise a new CD as having "remastered" sound and the fans would all buy it! :hmm:

Elvis' music should NOT be tampered with. It should be released EXACTLY the way Elvis wanted it to be heard and THAT IS IT!!! ;)

For true collectors, I don't think so. Elvis collectors will always hang on to their older collections, and I for one always enjoy pulling out an older CD every now and then to give it a spin on the ol' CD player. ;)

Well exactly the way Elvis wanted, might be to sometimes choose the undubbed unedited masters ratter than THE master.

I agree completely Raised on Rock, and if it is known that Elvis preferred the undubbed version of a song, then THAT is the way it should be released. (y)

A perfect personal example...I have always been a fan of the FROM ELVIS PRESLEY BOULEVARD album, but once I heard the undubbed or less-orchestrated versions of those songs on the JUNGLE ROOM SESSIONS FTD, I just couldn't believe how much more poignant and beautiful those songs became!!

Agree totally-its like the remixing-what happens in 10 years do they remic ALLC again??? It becomes just a ploy after a while.

I do have to say though....after long debate with myself and my wallet, I finally decided to start collecting the Franklin Mint COMPLETE MASTERS COLLECTION and I have to say that the first 4 CD's I've received so far sound incredible!! Now that I've heard the sound quality on the CD's I've gotten so far, I have to say I am glad I decided to go ahead and collect the series. It is really well done in my opinion!! (y)

How's the MSG album sound?

Sony's remasters are superb ––– I've got the recent VIVA LAS VEGAS soundtrack CD and that's awesome!

I agree with the done with remastering

my ears aren't perfect and so the difference is generally lost on me - and the digitalizing takes out the soul
