that's cool - I don;t know how much Jimi stuff is out there, so fans have wanted something and there's the huge myth and curiosity about him

Hendrix never did much for me. I preferred such players as Chet Atkins, James Burton, Nokie Edwards and Duane Eddy.

Good choices Brian. There's also Hank Marvin.
I could never get into Hendrix. To me he was all noise and guitar tricks. He may have been a fine guitar player, but I see no evidence of this. I guess if you were on acid he would sound great. His only redeeming feature is that he was left handed like me and Paul (McCartney)!!

I can't say I was ever a Jimi Hendrix fan, I appreciate his guitar music more now, especially since my youngest is "really into" playing guitar, his
favorites are Jimi, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughnn. I do like some of his songs, very few. Here's a nice article:

I think all of the above mentioned guitarist were great but let's not forget Chuck Berry....

Records were meant to be broken, and they will be, but the record to beat is ELVIS! It's great that Elvis set the bar on so many
records that are waiting to be beaten! After awhile, there'll be a list of people, and no one will remember the others on the list,
only the Number One Guy.

even if every one of Elvis' records are beaten, and given enough centuries, they will be

the reality is that no one person will break all the records Elvis set.

here's my argument for why Elvis remains the bar that all others are measured by http://ntrygg.wordpress.com/2010/02/12/why-elvis-remains-the-bar/

and found lacking

excellent article Monk

Love the quote..........'Elvis was a thoroughbred used to cart hay to the stables for the other horses'

He will always be the benchmark everyone aspires to...................

Records are made to be broken - always remember that.

Nevertheless, anytime a stat like this pops out, someone else is number one at this or that when it comes to music, I don't feel any less of an Elvis fan, or proud to be one for that matter. Because sometime down the line, someone else will break it.

My favorite guitar player is Jerry Reed.

Once upon a time when asked what it felt like to be the worlds` greatest guitarist Jimi replied "I don`t know...why don`t you ask Rory Gallagher"!!!! I think people put a bit too much importance on records like this... it`s too dependant on fads and fashions etc to say anything really important about the music or the musician...what`s hot today might be cold tomorrow. It`s nice for hendrix fans to see their hero recieve such praise and interest, wouldn`t begrudge them that. I just wish that my hero could get the praise he deserves for his part in the whole music history story, the often overlooked but hugely talented Mr. Elvis Presley!

Because sometime down the line, someone else will break it.

The other side to that is Elvis sets them up for others to knock them down.
