Does anyone know if Elvis typically used the same guitar or similiar ones in his movies?

I was watching Girl Happy and Viva on TCM today and the black star burst guitar looks like it was in both movies. In the Viva movie it looks like a had the Gibson blackened out on the head with a black marker or tape.

Wonder what ever happened to it?

It is not something that I have checked out closely in all of his movies, but .......

...... some were his own, others were props.

Have seen a number in private hands, given to the recepients by EP, ...... that are sourced to some of his movies.

EP had a LOT of guitars (in many varities) over his career, that's for sure.

The ultimate guitars (IMO) are either @ Graceland or in possession of Hard Rock's. Too bad, too ---> some are the stuff of dreams for Private Collectors.

Each time I watch TTWII SE I cringe when the part comes where Elvis drops his guitar after Thats All Right. Each person I know that owns any sort of instrument treats it with absolute care, but it seems as though Elvis didn't have these thoughts about his. I know I have read that Scotty was very reluctant to hand his over during the sit down session of the Comeback Special.

I had the exact same reaction the first time I saw EP drop that guitar.

EP was not one to worry about such things. In fact, I have seen it many times with EP's personal items ----> truly genuine pieces are never "mint." It would seem that EP almost enjoyed / used his items to the fullest extent ......... sometimes until he wore them out completely ........ or broke them.

Take a look at the magazine (EPE) "Then & Now" -----> look at some of that use / abuse placed on some of his guitars. Very typical EP.

I think Scotty was reluctant to hand his guitar over to EP, because he knew how EP treated things.
