What if the Colonel had died years before Elvis did, what do you believe that Elvis would have done?
Would he have been able to manage himself? Would he have been able to do things or go on tour around the world? What do you think could have happened?

I think he may have tried in the beginning to have Joe set up his tours but I think that wouldn't have worked out well and he would eventually have gotten a new manager.

I don't think Elvis had the ability to manage himself...he was only interested on the artistic side of the business :)

Anyway, I think he could have a new manager and learn a lot from his past mistakes..

Surely Elvis would have had to fire him at some point. Or knowing the colonel, he might have stepped down as long as he was getting a cut of profits even if it wasnt him that was the manager.

No, I think Elvis never would of gotten rid of the Colonel but think they would of split up around 1980 due to Parker's age and wish to retire.

Joe Esposito wasn't equipped to set up the tours the people that did set up the tours were Jerry Weintraub and Tom Huellet from Concerts West and they could've continued doing that even after Parker left.

i believe as mentioned here and by billy that maybe TOM HULLET would have taken over and manged ELVIS and no doubt he would have done a great job and ELVIS would tour overseas for sure as tom had various connections and was well known in the entertainment world and had handled tours for other artists.

I think that Elvis would have planned a tour that would take him outside to US.
But i don't think that his planes would have worked out very well and eventually he would have got a new manager.

Jerry Schilling was the Beach Boys manager at some point wasn't he? I'm not sure he would have been the best choice as Elvis's manager though. Although probably more experience than Joe.

Actually, I believe I read in "Elvis Aaron Pesley: Revelations From The Memphis Mafia" that Elvis had actually planned on firing Parker for good shortly before his (Elvis') passing - but we all know that didn't happen.

Concerts West was what I've always read too Brian. They handled Hendrix and Cream back in the day and I'm sure that they could have done a good job for the King also. I doubt they would have taken 50% of the profits either.
