I love this elvis' quote:
'A live concert to me is exciting because of all the electricity that is generated in the crowd and on stage. It’s my favorite part of the business, live concerts. '
And of course
'The image is one thing and the human being is another. It's very hard to live up to an image'

I have to agree with a couple that were already said:
From the movies, well just look at my signature, "them ain't tactics baby it's just the beast in me"
From real life, "the image is one thing and the human being is another" I think was probably one of the most telling things Elvis ever said.

Two lines that cross my mind more than any other line by Elvis is the "O, what a friend we have in Jesus..." and "It's a hot time in Florida, rainy night in Georgia".... both are from the car segments of On Tour.....

There are too many...I write you just few.
- Elvis in a piece of paper accidentaly found by a cleaning lady in his Las Vegas suite:
"I feel so alone sometimes
the night is quiet for me
I would love to be able to sleep
I'm glad everyone is gone now
I will probably not rest tonight
I have no need for all of this
HELP ME, LORD!" :'( :'( :'(
- Ed Sullivan Show 1956:
"Ladies and gentlemen....I'd like to say this...until we meet you again, may God bless you as he blessed me...thank you very much!" :notworthy
- "It ain't no saint, but I've tried never to do anything that would hurt my family or offend God...I figure all any kid needs hope and the feeling he or she belongs. If I could do or say anything that would give some kid that feeling, I would believe I had contributed something to the world"
- "Man, I was tame compared to what they do now. Are you kidding? I didn't do anything but just jiggle" :P

Hi Jouni!
Personally I don't know the precise year...
I've seen two different documentaries about Elvis, that reported the story of the cleaning lady and the piece of paper written by Elvis and found in the room with those sad sentences..:'( so I think it's true but they didn't tell the year...just the fact it happened in Las Vegas.
I'd be curious to know more informations too.
I don't think it's false since I heard about it twice but I've just finished to read the biography "Careless Love" and the book doesn't tell anything about it.
There was a quote from one of Elvis's cousins that Elvis loved. This cousin showed up at Graceland and seemed really really depressed, so Elivs asked him what was wrong. His cousin replied "I got my nerves all down in the dirt" Elvis ended up giving him some money and told him to have some fun and relax. But he loved to tell people that line about nerves in the dirt.

what do you think about this qoute from lisa Marie:
"There was no difference between his image and who he was, except he was even more important and bigger.Everything you saw was what was there, what he gave and he never put up a front of was who he was,and that,s what came through, and his image did anywhere near to what he was as a human being".Lisa marie

" AH DON'T SOUND LIKE NOBODY"
"Ah don't sound like nobody" Elvis said, at SUN. And so the story goes, The beginning was begun. "Thats alright Mama" He sang in a rare style, With a rockin'rollin' rhythm, Uniquely versatile. Fame and fortune came his way, Elvis remained the same. And all around the world today, Everyone knows his name. Graceland is the place to be, At a certain time each year, When thousands gather at the gates, In the song filled atmosphere. M.C. 1999.

It doesn't come from a very good time in his life, but my favorite is probably "my voice is so d**n low I make JD Sumner sound like a tenor".

My favorite from a song, are the lines you find in my signature. Those words coupled with the way he sings them, never fails to move me.

I don't think that it really happened, but judging the the time period it is from and the kind of mood Elvis was in during his last season in Vegas it wouldn't suprise me if it was true.

Indeed! He also had a great laugh...
two of my favorites: “The first time that I appeared on stage, it scared me to death. I really didn’t know what all the yelling was about. I didn’t realize that my body was moving. It’s a natural thing to me. So to the manager backstage I said, ‘What’d I do? What’d I do?’ And he said “Whatever it is, go back and do it again.”
