much has bin said and written about the last days that E,P. had on this earth -he was out of it all day/night long , depressed etc., yet we see a man who rented an amusement park for his daughter , him riding around on his trike, going to watch movies . I do believe he may have had some bad days but for the most part it was buisness as usual with ELVIS trying to have as much fun as he possibly could, if we are led to believe at times what we are told and what is written ELVIS was in a real stooper , but i guess they were wrong again, i remember it was rumored for years that the EP boulevard sessions were said to be a real downer/disaster , yet we hear[thanks to ftd] an artist in very much control and in a reasonable mood , i guess many just like to invent things and paint his last days as dark and lonley - lets not forget the newspaper headline -lonely life ends on E.P. boulevard, so what do you think, was it lonly at the end?

I believe the up days were less than the down days, but lets put it into context, just because you take prescribed meds doesn't mean that you are unable to get out of bed every day. Elvis had bad days like we all do and these have been documented by those close to Elvis and from people who have no reason to lie or exaggerate.

You only have to take one look at Elvis In Concert to see Elvis wasn't in the best of health but was functioning at a lower capacity than someone of the same age. Elvis probably made a concerted effort when Lisa Marie was around, other days he probably struggled to find motivation when there was so much going on in his life that was negative.

The tabloids have exaggerated his condition, I sincerely doubt he was bed ridden and incapacitated as has been suggested, otherwise he couldn't have performed half as much as he did.

His life was far from the party days of the early 70's

Agree with some things. Elvis was human. He could be just as sad as the rest of us. He could also enjoy having Lisa ,his family & friends around. IMO, he was a lot sicker than anyone was aware of too. He just seemed to brush all that off. He didn't want to face that or have anyone know about that either.

The last days.......................................the last sad days..................isn't it funny how much that is used in todays world.
I just saw a couple of recent tabloid covers in the supermarket with my wife-one had Loretta Lynn on the cover-and it had a "sad last days" type title on it then down the rack was a picture of Doris Day and it also had a "sad last days" caption on it. It disgusts me, the lack of humanity, lack of feeling for the relatives, friends and for the person featured. Elvis said these people have a job to do and they do it-I disagree with him-some of them are like vultures, looking for the next meal. IMO

I know its slightly off topic to talk about Doris Day, but it just shows how the media create stories around famous people. Doris Day is around 84 years old. She lives in a beautiful house in California with her animals. She has lots of friends. She doesn't sing anymore (in public) and hasn't done since she feels she was "past her best" voice-wise. She is happy and healthy.

A picture is taken of her saying how sad she is nowadays. The only sad (if you can even call it that:blink:) part about the said picture is that she is now in her eighties and doesn't look as great as she was in her twenties. WHO DOES? Blimey, what a sad world we live in.(n)

Anyway, back to the subject..

I agree with this. I think the tabloids are vultures. They feed off of others pain. It is really easy for them to bash Elvis and say things about him when he's not here to defend himself. The same ppl who took pics of Lady Diana when she was dead or dying. It sickens me that they can even sleep at night.

Agreed. Thank goodness these sick people who took the photos of Princess Diana as she lay dying were never bought!

The first sad last days type headline I can recall was in 1970 or 1971 when Bud Abbott of the famous comedy team of "Abbott and Costello" was on the Enquirer in a wheelchair he had a stroke and was pitiful looking.
They had a three page article about how broke and sick he was with just months to live...plus a couple more pitiful photos of this once happy proud old guy. Sickening.

The annoying thing is that people continue to fall for all these emotion-inducing headlines and buy the paper, magazine or whatever.... even though there are a lot of people who see through it and past it I don`t ever see this type of thing going away...there will always be an interested market for sex, suffering or sadness. It took all that evolution to get us this far???

You are so correct-as long as someone buys it and it turns a profit-the tabloids will produce it.

In my mind, it's not the last days of these people that is sad, at least not any sadder than anyone else...it's that there are so many sick "vultures" twisting everything they can to dramatize the lies they write.

Doesn`t say a lot for the intelligence of the general population that a lot of people take these stories as gospel. Every newspaper and magazine that is on every shelf these days has at least one over-cooked tale of sadness...and very rarely out of any genuine concern or emotion for the person in the story.I think it`s actually getting to a point now where you don`t even need to be a celebrity to get written (badly) about....just pick a misfortune, any one will do......then sit back and listen to the cash-register.Sad.

as I recall they ran last sad days of Bob Hope for 5 years before he finally died,

I don't know why they are presuming that the last days are sad - most people don't know when their last days are occurring....

I will admit though, I that had thought Lynn was already dead - half the time that's my reaction - surprise the the celeb in question is still alive.
