Elvis on cassette tapes.

When i got started on buying Elvis music it was on vinyl records.
and when they stop making vinyls i went into cassette tapes because at the time i could aford cds so the next best thing to get Elvis music it was on cassette tapes, and now these tapes are even getting harded to fine.

so a past few years i have been buying elvis music on cds, i still buy vinyl and cassette's to.

so i would like to know on what was your frist collecting Elvis music,
on vinyl, cassette's or cds.

Well Curtis, just like you I started with Vinyl but i never bought any cassette tapes. As soon as the first cd's came out I started that.
The end of the 90's and the start of the century, I started ordering tapes from a radio show called "Predominately Presley" that are the only cassettes I own.

Vinyl...CD's....some of the older cassettes(in cardboard mini boxes)..
but I prefer Reel to Reels...they sound GREAT..

I started with Vinyl, never really got into cassettes or 8 track or reel to reel although I have some of each. When CD's started, I started to collect. At first I would buy anything that came out. Then as time went by I got a little more disearning about what I buy. For example I won't buy say a gospel CD just because it has a different title and different cover...If I have the songs already on CD I don't buy it anymore. Repackaging is a big thing in the CD world and Elvis has taken too much of my money already...lol

My main source of listening to Elvis these days are MP3's on my computer. I have every Elvis song converted to mp3, for my personal listening pleasure. the vinyl is stored away and never played anymore.

But Elvis is still heard, all the time, no matter what format! (y)

CDs : Elvis The Romantic...which where i found out how beautiful the song
'I Will Be True ' and 'Its Still Here' was...

i dont have any vinyl in my collection...

I started my Elvis collection with vinyl back in the early 60's. I tried to collect all the vinyl formats (Lp- single- EP & 78).
As we moved into the 70's I bought all the initial cassette releases. I still have those very same tapes in my collection today. They are easily spotted by a small black title strip lable on the edge of the cassette jewelcase. Also the earliest cassettes had paper lables glued to the cassette housing. The inner sleeve listed all the initial cassette releases by Elvis.
I also have many 8 track tapes (with original display boxes) and reel to reel tapes in my collection. Of course I still have a huge vinyl collection

I remember my friends thinking I was a bit strange buying cassettes when the whole world it seemed was listening to 8 track tapes. I am glad I bought those cassettes though.

I have moved on to CD's as has everyone else. My kids (college age) are getting more into vinyl recordings these days- my son recently purchased a new turntable. I set him up with a copy of the first Elvis LP (LPM-1254) and a copy of the old Sun collection Lp from the mid 70's. Essential stuff in a new record collection!

For me, I first started listening to Elvis on CD, and I bought some cassettes too, and just recently have gotten into vinyl (though I've had some Elvis records for a while). Kinda bass-ackwards, huh? :lol:

I started my Elvis collection with audio cassettes. Then CDs.
But I keep the most favorite cassettes too.

To find an Elvis vinyl in Russia..... Its almost impossible. Now and then. :'( But I LOVE so much the vinyl sound. And I have an Elvis albums recorded from vinyl records to audio tapes. And it sounds GREAT! Some music engineer said to me that audio tape can keep the vinyl sound not bad.

My Elvis collection started when my Mom's Elvis vinyl albums "mysteriously" disappeared from her record cabinet and somehow wound up in my bedroom next to my record player -- 27 years ago!

And, to this day, we never did figure out just how that happened....it's still a mystery!! ;)

I started with cassette tapes. My very first album was "Pure Gold." Maybe not the best album to start with.....but I wore the heck out of it. I bought every cassette tape they had in my younger days. Within the past few years I've spent lots of time tracking down every LP I could find on ebay. I can't say I've really bought a lot of cd's. I do have tons of bootleg cd's.......but not others.

my first record back in 1970 was ``LET`S BE FRIENDS``. I still have this one with a lot of scatches and a lot of pencil notes. At the same time my fisrt casette was the `68 comeback. This type of cassette was new back then and the 8 tracks was big sellers also. Now I collect cd`s, cassettes, 8 tracks (sealed only) and records.

I have purchased many Elvis cassette tapes through the years. When I first became a fan, I mostly bought vinyl. But I also bought many albums on cassette. This was several years before CDs. In fact, recently I have been listening to The Wonderful World Of Christmas on tape in my car. The tape is just about worn out though.

Vinyl!!!! I have about 40 of them and only three CD's (lol).... Rest of collection is DVD's.

Actually the very first music that I collected of Elvis' were the vinyl records that my Mom had in her record collection....slowly, all of her Elvis albums disappeared from her record collection and reappeared in mine!! Never did quite figure out how that happened... ;)

The very first Elvis album that I ever listened to was the TODAY album....it's still my all-time favorite Elvis album!!! (y)

I actually did collect some of Elvis' albums on cassette tape for a while, but I just never really liked cassette tapes....too hard to find the songs I wanted to hear, and for some reason, they just never sounded the same to me as a good ol' vinyl album!! While I still have all of my Elvis vinyl albums, cassette tapes and even 8-track tapes in my collection, I only listen to Elvis' music on CD right now!! Although one of these days, I am hoping to invest in a new record player just so I can drop the needle on some old Elvis albums, close my eyes, and go back in time to when I was just a 5 year old kid discovering Elvis Presley for the very first time!! :)

My first Elvis purchase was the GI Blues album in 62. From then on I bought every single and album. I have almost all regular releases on vinyl then I got 8 tracks and cassettes. On CD I have the big box sets and some of the others like Rhythm and Country I Never Made It Playin Lead Guitar and I have begun putting some of the vinyl on CD.
