Sillerman has a deal unveiled last week with "Idol" creator Simon Fuller that sees him remain a consultant on 19's hit shows "Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance" while he is also...

Scares me too. I just hope that Simon REALLY knows what Elvis was all about before he takes on this project but I have my doubts...no one has captured Elvis in the true sense yet.

IMO, A thorough bio-pic of Elvis' life, all the way through and not only up until the 1968 Comback, would be great, if they do it right and stick to the facts. (y)

Something along the lines of the films "Ray" and "Walk The Line" would be nice (again as long as they get the facts os his life correct).

Of course finding a suitable actor to play Elvis would be the real sticky part I think, but perhaps they could if they search long enough and don't go with just anybody? :hmm:

I so agree with you here...I am waiting for THE movie about him, one that's done with respect and love, but not saccharine sweet either.. exactly as you said like Ray and Walk the Line, these are two fav movies of mine...when WTL came out I felt like Elvis has been done such an injustice not to have a movie like it made for him, he more than deserves it..but as you say the actor is the key... Jamie Fox and Joaquin Phoenix were incredible in portraying the respective legends, to portray Elvis as the man he was without making him into the caricature he has been portrayed as since his death would be very tricky..it will take an amazingly loving, respectful and courageous performance...

Simon Fuller is probably talking about another t.v. movie
As for making a big screen Elvis biopic that ship has sailed it will never happen.
If it was gonna happen it would've been made years ago.

Elvis' basic life story is very well known because of all the t.v. movies and documentaries that have been made about him so making a big screen biopic wouldn't do much box office.
Ray Charles' and Johnny Cash's life stories weren't as well known so it's more lucractive to make a movie about them
Michael Douglas will be starring in a biopic about Liberace his story is also not as well known.

I used to think that a movie about Elvis similar to Ray or I Walk the Line would be great, and it would, at least quality wise. But I don't think fans would be very pleased with a movie like those two anyway :hmm:. I think we liked them because we are not huge Ray Charles or Johnny Cash fans, and didn't upset us the fact that they were mainly centered on the not so nice aspects of their lives.

An excellent point. Any attempts at making a serious Elvis movie along these lines probably never leaves the planning stage, especially when the film makers discover how jumpy Elvis's estate and fans are. They probably can't be bothered with the hassle. Their target audience are the ones who are most likely to have grievances with a faithful and accurate dramatization of the story!

You know I may be called a crackhead for saying this...BUT....I went to the theatre to see "A Christmas Carol" with Jim Carey and everyone was CGI animation, BUT it looked realistic. The movie "Beowulf", same way.

After seeing the clip on youtube of the animated Elvis that blew me away:

I'm convinced that the ONLY way to do a movie on Elvis is to do it in this fashion. Otherwise, we will NEVER get an actor to play Elvis correctly and look like him. I know that this could be done. Then...you just get someone to do the actual acting voice...somebody that sounds like him talking..etc, use the real music and it would be KILLER.

Obviously somebody would hate it, but I think it's the only way. Elvis is too perfect to be played by anybody. We're not talking about Cash or Ray...but "The King".

I think that's a good idea Waymore44

I don't think Sillerman, Fuller or EPE ect. would do something like this unless the Beatles people do a film like this first then you can bet a movie about Elvis would be made like that.
