I stumbled across the movie "Elvis and Me" on youtube & wondered if there´s maybe a good movie about Elvis. One where the actor who plays Elvis really resembles him & where it doesn´t only show the bad sides about him. What do you think is the best movie about him?

Nicole....my best bet is, that "THIS IS ELVIS" is the best movie about Elvis. Maybe not the best about his personal life, but IMO the most important things about Elvis and his career is told in it. To me, it means a lot, that Elvis himself is in the movie as much as video/audio clips were available, to be part of telling the story.:)
BUT....I would say, that IF "This is Elvis", had been made...let`s say 10 years later, it might have been even longer(It lasts for about 3 hours) and more improved with more details, but one can only hope for an "Updated" version to happen someday.

I agree with you, This is Elvis is the best movie about Elvis, because he plays himself mostly. Nobody ever could catch that something and never will. Kurt Russell was quite good though that movie was full of mistakes... But I hope This is Elvis will be released and re-edited soon. No other film comes close.

Not sure there is a best movie. I like them all, but of course anything real that is Elvis and not an actor would be preferable.

I agree with the others. I think "This Is Elvis" from 1981 is the best movie what ever made about him, wonderful and really touching. It shows his life so sincerely and showed his career really in great aspect. The most beautiful biography what I've ever seen about a star. Have you ever seen it? I'm sure it is available on DVD in Germany. This is a trailer from YouTube, sorry, but no too good quality:
YouTube- this is elvis trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCy2WoRKX8Y)
My 2nd vote would be the Kurt Russel movie ("Elvis-The Movie"):

"This is Elvis" is probably the best of what is available, even though it isn`t exactly perfect. I don`t think we will see a movie with an actor playing Elvis that would be good enough to please everyone..... so far I reckon Kurt Russell is the best of the attempts.
My preferer movie is TTWII. Show the real Elvis.

I agree!! :notworthy :notworthy My favourite movie. I think his concert movies really can show the real Elvis (TTWII and "Elvis On Tour"). Of course the biographies (like "This Is Elvis" and the Kurst Russel movie) show other sides of his life.

From the `fictional' perspective, I like Bubba Ho Tep, Elvis Meets Nixon

I would definitley say This Is Elvis.
If you want to know about the man and his music then this is the movie for you.
Stuff like Elvis & Me or Elvis starring Kurt Russel of '79, they try to capture the private side of elvis and they fail big time in my eyes. It's impossible for an outsider to try to make a film on Elvis' life.
To me , is TTWII. Beautiful and clear.

The tv series Elvis starring Micheal St. Gerard. He looked like Elvis and played pretty good. I know it was fictionel but none the less i liked watching it.
Elvis meets Nixon is campy but fun to with some thruth in it.
Kurt Russel played Elvis good but the thing that was missing in that film was the humor of Elvis. As we know Elvis loved practical jokes and had a great sense of humor but Russel played an melancholic depressed lonely ELvis. To bad the humor lacked.
