Reading the other thread on no elvis cds in music store's.
same is here, at wal-mart i see same ol same ol cds, like

the 31 number 1 hits 2nd to none, and best buy here has almost the same kind of cds.

whats going on here are they going to stop saleing Elvis cds if so, thats very bad for us fans here.

some fans here never heard of the ftd cds, and only way to get elvis now is buying them on line and so on.

and same goes on johnny Cash cds to.
and i do buy any of today music not country and rock music on so on.

i guess from now on i get my music from ebay or some place on line.

I've found the same thing to be true...Best Buy,Media Play...etc...only have about 6 different Elvis CD titles...and that's it..yet,they have tons of the garbage stuff...I can't even find the new DVD's.."'68 Comeback" and "Aloha" deluxe DVD's !!!!
quite sad...

I think for the seasoned fans most of us have a pretty good CD collection. There is no song I do not have on CD by Elvis. But I feel sorry for the up coming "new generation" of fans. Like you say, they will find it hard to buy Elvis on CD if the stores don't play ball. But most of that is down to the promoting by the BMG label. They would sell by the thousands if they had a better supply structure with the everyday stores. The demand would be better also if the had proper promotion of Elvis.
He wasn't the biggest ever record seller for no reason. He still could be if they would get their act together. Maybe now that Sony has bought BMG there may be a restructuring of the "Elvis CD" in stores and the promotion thereof. Who knows!
I hope so.

The reason that there aren't that many Elvis cd's around anymore...even in the bigger stores is simply because a whole chunk of Elvis' back catalogue has been deleted by BMG....so once the old stock has gone on certain titles....thats it.... :'(

Why ?.....only BMG know that....seems a strange idea to me....but thats nothing new with BMG decisions

I COULDN'T AGREE MORE NIGHT RIDER!!! ;)

Some of RCA's marketing moves baffle me to no end, although in the case of Elvis' back catalog of CD's, I am guessing that it is a simple matter of streamlining! Some of the older titles (like MEMPHIS RECORD or THE COMPLETE SUN SESSIONS) have been replaced with new upgrades (SUSPICIOUS MINDS and SUNRISE/ELVIS AT SUN), so there is no real demand for these older titles except by collectors, I would guess. And then, some of the other original CD's like MOODY BLUE and PROMISED LAND have been replaced by the upgraded versions with bonus tracks, again rendering the original CD's obsolete except to collectors!

Then, I would imagine that some titles just don't sell well to the general record buying public which I would guess leads to deletion from the catalog. Keep in mind that RCA has the general public in mind with the Elvis CD's they keep and the ones they delete. So most of the moves that RCA makes is with the general public in mind, and not so much the Elvis collectors (that is why us collectors have the FTD label). And I truly think you'll see this trend continue....less box sets and releases with outtakes being issued by the mainstream RCA label, and more of these type of things being issued on the FTD label.

Last year RCA issued a press release stating that they were going to limit their Elvis catalog to 50 titles at any one time. If a new title was released on RCA (such as ELVIS AT SUN this year), then one of the titles on the list would be deleted to keep the list at 50 titles at all times. Again, I would guess this is strictly a cost-effective strategy to keep the most active and most well-selling titles on the market and available to the general public.

As for me-here in Latvia it's hard to buy the newest (and the old ones as well) Elvis CDs...but recently I found out that it's possible to order them from the catalogue-mmmmmmmm-but the prizes are.... :supriced: :supriced: :supriced: (especially talkin' bot FTD series)

I have never understood RCA/BMG promotion and release of new products to music shops at all. When I would go to the stores they would not even know anything about a new release. I would have to give them all the info on it and maybe the next week or two they would then stock them....Sad but true. When they were made aware of the new Elvis releases they carried them.

Why are they so hard to find? I mean, I found his Christmas CD's in the store but all the other ones are like impossible to find!

Is that really what happened ? :'(

Looking for Elvis CD, way back in Indonesia was hard to find....if there is any it was usually in high prices...

Now that i lived in another country, it is still hard to find ....

I am just wondered if its just a bad 'joint-venture' between EPE and BMG ??
so all of us fans could only buy some good and rare CDs from that elvis shop ....
