Yes, I think he was. In a playful, boyish way......

All the firework parties, belting around the grounds of Graceland on the golfing carts, skating game, 'War'...........he did have his competative/mad moments.
Maybe it was for release, let off steam, from being 'Elvis', and having to maintain his 'Image'.............

I think he really was, but in a good way. "So those of you who never seen me before will realize tonight that I'm totally insane and I've been for a number of years." LOL... These were his own words in TTWII. :) :) :)

Since Elvis grew up an only child and was closely guarded by his mother, when he was little,he wasn't able to do the things that the other kids did.So after he made it big,he was able to make up for lost time.Elvis was a kid at heart.

I asked a doctor years ago during a really bad period of depression,
"Doctor am I nuts?" he laughed and said
"We're all a little nuts just in different ways and degrees"

Hi :wiggle:

I read all the post and I am in accor with what you said:

Elvis was what we could call today a HYPERASSET, always in action, in boiling (naturally or with medicines?) he had this outstanding personality.

Yes Elvis had child's soul... He was facetious and unpredictable, fragile and vulnerable... What makes that we love him so much...

I am as you: I LOVE VERY STRONG ELVIS :wub:

Thank you Cibetti for the video TTWII ! I like his humor !
This man is a present of the sky... He is marvellous

Too true Ken, I think we all are just a little.

Elvis got to always be a kid I think, even as he aged, he had the money to recreate his old days as a youngster like renting libertyland all night etc.

Well, at times Elvis didn`t seem to take anything to seriously, I guess that`s why he was given the nickname "Crazy" by the Memphis mafia :D, and actually I love the kind of humour he had (Most of the time)and of wich he showed a lot......lol, but really crazy.....no I don`t think so.

When I listen to everything recorded....interviews, press conferences and so on.....actually there are hours recorded of Elvis talking during the years, then I find Elvis to have been a VERY bright, clever and well spoken man.....Just loveable to listen to.

I think we need to look at the whole "picture" of the man before we judge who he really was.
To me this 5 cd set "Word for Word" did a lot for me to get to know what kind of man Elvis was....The set contains NO music, Only Elvis talking..

http://www.elvispresley.dk/shop.asp?page_id=39&cmd=proddetail&cat_id=6&prod_id=56&startrow=25

I sat for hours with my headphones on....just listening......and I really enjoyed it because I got the feeling of who, and what he was all about.
I know, when listening to a lot of concerts, Elvis sometimes said funny things, but that was not the whole picture.....far from it

 I think Elvis was somewhat of a genius! In many aspects of the word.
He had an incredible talent, a wonderful loving disposition (until some people trampled it down like fallen roses) but he maintained with humor, always a smile and laugh, clowning around at the smallest thing...
I loved the night in concert where he ripped the seem in his pants....:lmfao:
Crazy? Nah....... just "Different" than anyone I ever knew. A joy, a miracle of a man, who must have been sent by God, because look how we love him so much still!

IMO no he wasn't crazy, I would say he had a crazy sense of humour but so do I so maybe that's why I can relate to him so much lol He could act like a kid and it suited him, he could clown around and it was funny and he could see the humour too when he clowned around. I love to laugh WITH him. I think he's brave, it takes a lot to show this side of him cos if people don't understand him they can take it the wrong way. That's just the way he was and I love him and thank him for sharing that side of him with us.

Nicole, there must be..if that concert was filmed and released...as Charlie teased the heck out of him and he said"OK I'll Turn Around" and screams from the audience of course because the split was right up the bottom!:lmfao:
I am sory I can't remember which concert it was, and I will have to blame the years of trying to recall everything on that!
An expert might have that answer, and I hope it is viewable -should be they have released almost everything!

Charlie hands him a towel..like thats going to help..I don't think he had but tights if that, under his jumpsuit. :supriced: SUCH FUN!!!!! It was great!

Genie

Nothing sad about it, and no one I know who saw it thought so either... it's one of the cutest Elvis stunts, and he was an ace at taking any situation and turning it into huge applause and screams!

I'm sorry, but why do say it's no big deal?

I donīt think itīs sad. I think itīs funny. Itīs just his sense of humor.

It was funny in the early 70's say ttwii rehearsals etc.
but not in 1976 -77. His weight was a problem and it had to be embarrasing for him.
And plus I don't think he ever split his pants on purpose, so that wasn't his sense of humour, it was his weight i'd say.

I think that Elvis was outrageously normal! He had a guy's sense of humor, didn't let himself get all "Hollywood", he liked to roughhouse, play games, have fun like any other regular guy!

I find it very easy to relate to Elvis's way of looking at world.
It's not so much that he was crazy- more that he gave himself permission to do what the rest of us would probably like to, if we weren't so inhibited.

Give yourselves a little Christmas present this year, and allow yourself an 'Elvis moment'.

Enough to make him extremely fun to be around and hard on himself. It was a great part of who he was though and I liked that about him. (the extremely fun part that is)
