If what the flyer that we picked up at the Utrecht Record Fair says is true, we?re in for a treat. In a couple of weeks time, the Triangle Label releases a top class CD. ?Hampton Roads? is announced as a perfectly mixed show from April 1972 (the On Tour recordings) and contains, apart from a 40 page booklet with lots of color shots, also a reprint of the 1972 MGM pressbook. Earlier this year, the producers of ?Hampton Roads? released the 5 stars CD ?Greensboro?.

Interesting news Steve, the Greensboro CD from Triangle sounded very good indeed, wonder how they are going to package this 40 page booklet.

I've seen samples of the booklet last night and it really is breathtaking. It really is that good. Besides the (fantastic) boxsets of BMG/FTD and the booklet for the 'a Profile - The King On Stage' boxsets, I can't find any Elvis release that has a booklet with more page, more info and more pictures.
We really are in for a treat (y)

It's like the old 2LP sleeves: the booklet will go in the left sleeve and the cd in the right sleeve.

I've allready orded my copy of this soon to be released cd. Looking forward to hear and see this release. I think the art work is great! By judging the preview flyer. I got a mail yesterday from the guy i buy this kind of releases from. And i wanted to upload the preview right a way..but something went wrong and it was uploaded this morning in the news section. So i appologize for that, the news is now twice in that section.

No, it's not in LP size...
It's a fold out cover done just like in the good old times of black vinyl ;)
You can see that, if you look a little bit closer on the pictures...

This is a sample of the booklet. Although it's great, it's simply nowhere near as great as all the other pages in the booklet.

Today I listened to a few samples of this soon-to-be-released CD. Although they were mp3, they still gave a fantastic impression of what to expect.
I can assure everybody that the soundquality is amazing. I have every soundboard that has been released, and this one really is the best sounding. It's crisp and clear.
"A Big Hunk O' Love" rocked like hell, with "Sweet Sweet Spirit" you can hear all individual voices during this close harmony, Kathy Westmoreland can be clearly heard during "Until It's Time For You To Go".
The power of this release (besides the amazing artwork and package) is that they instruments can almost be heard individually. It's not a one big mass sound, or with a way too loud pumping bass, but you can hear the hi-hats (?) of the drums, the rhythm guitar, the background vocals, and so on very good. Even the audience is present.
After seeing samples of the package and artwork and hearing some samples I am really looking forward to this release.

Mah boy, mah boy!
I've heard big parts of the CD and have seen all booklet-pages.
There's nothing on the Import-market nor on the official site that can compare with this up-coming release.
Great liner-notes, rarely seen pics and more than nicely done artwork added with a fantastic soundquality.
This will be a classic one.

Just got an email from "Triangle" confirming that "Hampton will be available by the end of next week" .
Can?t wait to get this. The sound on The Greensboro Concert was fantastic, so I guess this is gonna be just as impressive. :worthy:

I am so glad that this show is being released. This show is without a doubt one of his better one's from 1972. :D
My question is this, does anyone know if every song from the show will be available on this release, or will there be a few songs missing as it was on the old bootleg title Live in Virginia? :hmm:

In the descriptions that I have read, it states that this is a "nearly complete" show. I assume the same songs are still missing. Someone obviously shut the recorder off for a few minutes.

From what I've heard I believe that during those (not featured on this CD) the instructions of the director are hearable (like on some tracks on the On Tour sessions -volumes 1 to 3- from Vicky).
If I'm not mistaken, some songs that aren't on this CD do exist on the VHS/VCD/DVD of the On Tour special. So probably the audiosource is different from the audiosource used for the special.

What a superb CD... Get hold of a copy NOW!
The sound quality is fantastic and the packaging is absolutely sound
The only drawback is the three missing tracks
I Got a Woman/Amen
Never Been To Spain
You Gave Me a Mountain
But I still reckon this is one of the best import releases in a long time.

I just finished the alt. cover-art (for a jewel case) for this release (to keep the fantastic artwork from triangle the way it is) and made a cd-r (also to keep the original safe) and added the missing songs from the flashback release: Elvis On Tour. And remestered these songs with my audio programm to match the sound from triangle. And in that way you'll have the complete concert... Only never been to spain is from a other date but the other 2 are from Hampton!
I will post a sample asap! so you can hear what i've been remastering!

Did this DVD ever came out?...believe not. It was pulled back just for release time..
Now let's hope mgm will release a special on tour dvd...
Rumours are floating around that on tour will see a release this year (2007)..but it will be the "old" version in remastered picture quality..:hmm:
Why can't EPE buy this footage along with all the stuff from TTWII and make those dvd's..in the way they did the '68 special and Aloha?

Well I guess getting the original with remastered quality on dvd is a step in the right direction to getting the rest of the eot outtakes...I agree with you Patrick, that would make sense to me if EPE just bought the footage and release it themselves!!!!

They been owned the 68 and Aloha for many years. They can't buy the Elvis films because MGM, Warner, Fox, and Universal will not sell the rights of the movies to EPE. THey have tried but failed. They have to ask permission to use clips of it on documentaries and so on. Yes, EPE and the person who bought 80% of it and yes they may have the name and likeness but not the right of the films. They have to ask permission on that.
