Yesterday i got a nice surprise from my postman, he told me that a huge package was waiting for me at the post office.
15 Min later I was at the post office, my copy of Elvis - The King of Las Vegas had arrived.

The book is huge and heavy, over 360 pages.
It`s a picture book, it have text and info's, but the main thing is the pictures.
I have not counted how many pictures it is, but 1200-1300 should be right.

It starts in April 1956 and ends in December 1976.
Most of the pictures from 1956 was new to me, but I'm a 70`s freek, so what do i know about the 50`s :lmfao:

5 b/w pictures in superb quality from July 22nd 1960 was totally new to me.
23 b/w pictures from the Viva Las Vegas movie, most of the must be rare, and most of them new to me.

The Wedding gets 10 pages and 26 pictures.

1969 gets 64 pages, and hold on to your horses now, 234 pictures.
A meeting with Tom Jones at the Flamingo from April 6th 1968, 4 pictures, and again the quality is fantastic.
The press conference on August 1st is given 14 pages with 45 pictures.
Over 80 live shots, backstage, Nancy Sinatra party, Hotel corridors.... the list goes on........

Most of the pictures from the 70s comes from my collection, I will not go into details about that section of this book, but all i can say is that this is a great book, and that you have never, and will never find so many Las Vegas pictures of Elvis in one book, so this is the BOOK YOU MUST HAVE.
This is pure quality, all is 1st class ;-)

Oh..... yes.... you will find rare shots from the 70s :newyear:

It`s worth every penny, believe me IT IS.
This is just like The Life of Elvis book that Shaver gave out, only this book is bigger and have more pictures.
Of Course you can not compare this to Shavers great work, Shaver gave us pictures we had never seen before, you can not make books like that today, but we can make books that have better quality today, and this book have better quality.
And more pictures than any other Elvis book.

Hi Everyone.
I've known Erik (from Norway--now living in Denmark) since the early 1970s.. he's a great Elvis Fan...

This book is the best ELVIS PHOTO BOOK I HAVE EVER SEEN..
(I have the Shaver Book... which is really good) but this Photo book is just in a class of its own.

Over 1200 pictures... and plenty of info... take a look at some of the scans Erik sent me a few weeks back...

~Thats OK... Erik asked me to add them for you all.. they got sent as PDF files., converting them to Jpeg, is still pretty good for this topic...

OK... let me tell you... Eric has sent me some Scans of his next SIX BOOKS
DUE OUT in about One Years Time.

Two Volumes for each ~Decade (50s, 60s, and 70s)

You will need to start saving your pennies and Dollars...
Each of the next six books has 1000+ pictures in each.

Same size as this Vegas book !. the scans I have from the first 2 volumes from the 50s are wonderful...

With all 7 volumes, you will have 7000+ photos on Qualtiy Art Paper,
pretty well covering Everything Elvis ever did...

Erik has already spent almost 2 years on this project, and I know KENNY has spent most of this year, helping with many many High Quality Scans.

I only got the chance to supply one or two things for him...in the Vegas book. But hope to be able to help add more for all the next Volumes.

I feel very excited about the complete project.. this will be a unique collection when completed...

WELL DONE "ERIK" My friend..

This new Website was set up my Kenny for Erik - 4 days ago.

http://www.elvisfiles.no/

Its just for the NEW "VEGAS" Thru the Years book..
you can order it direct from ERIK at this site...

On the site you will see the New flyer for the Two 1950s Volumes.
If you click on this, you can view them much larger.. As you will see the books for later next year... look really stunning also...

I sent Erik a list of people to contact a few days ago... to help promote the book Worldwide.
When I have some feed back from this... I will post anything of interest for North America.

The first copies started to be sent this week.. mine will arrive sometime next week.
Because its such a large and heavy book, its costing a lot of money to send it Airmail..
But its still worth it... you will get many hours of enjoyment out of the info text and beautiful layout of all the photos...

Hope this helps... SincerELy... REX

(I tapped this out yesterday morning for TKC)
,,,,,,,My Book arrived well over an Hour ago now...

The postman woke me up... Of course I opened the box - sat down and started giving the book a quick flick through...

One Hour later, I have seen every page... do I need to study it longer... Yes I sure do.

Apart from the short captions.... I haven't read any of the Block Texts and overviews YET.

Breakfast and my first cup of the day... is now over an hour later than when I normally get up... THANKS "ERIK"...

The WOW Factor from seeing a few PDF pages, is enforced even greater. Now I have this work of Art.

One thing I kept thinking, while going from page to page.... WHAT A GREAT ELVIS PRESENTATION.....

Erik.... I can tell you have agonized for hours and hours, to decide which photos should be full page,

and how to give the book Uniformity and a consistency....

I know sometimes a photo will sometimes not lend itself to fitting with the others.......

But you really have managed to achieve a visually great looking LAYOUT.

Apart from One photo, you haven't used two pages to display a picture....

which breaks up the look of a pose, in the deep fold between each page...(a very good decision I feel)

The images are all laid out in a Time Line, from the 1950s to 1976,

this makes it easy to check out all the Elvis occasions, for the future times you would like to check on anything.

A GREAT PIECE OF ELVIS VEGAS HISTORY ~ IN ONE HECK OF A GREAT PACKAGE....

(EPS.... Erik in the 1970s I meet you many times, and remember Pal Grunland and yourself very well........ Almost as interesting for me... is that you have included a more Up-to-date Picture of yourself and Pal "NOW".....
........ on the inside Flap.... such a picture always shows how life has treated yourself... to me it would Seem VERY WELL !)

and... Thankyou Again... for allowing me a copy of your Splendid Work... its very much appreciated...

(Tonight a day later some more thoughts)
Erik sent me a good few PDF Scans a few weeks back.. I didn't think it was fair on the book to post them all (sorry)

My copy arrived yesterday... jotted down a few thoughts (all positive)

Erik sends them out pretty fast, good heavy Thick cardboard wrap around Box, the card at the corners also juts out, so they don't get damaged.

You really can't say this is like any other Elvis book you have seen.. for one thing its VEGAS COMPLETE.. he's thought of everything, all the outside Candid moments, even VIVA LAS VEGAS... Probably not enough Ann Margret (if your a fan-but more than enough ~Elvis) All the '50s visits, a lot of Elvis at other shows, with this many pages, with 1200+ pics, you have to have a cut off point...

Better than anything by Ger Ryff, Shaver, Tunzi... (in fact makes Tunzi's books look mean on photos and pages) When you think his are £35 odd, and if you bought 3 different Tunzi books, it doesn't come close to Erik's One book. Its an Encylopedia of Vegas Elvis Photos.

Not a book to hide in a corner behind anything... more a place of its own, on a perfectly sized coffee table.. (Must go and get one....)

Got my copy yesterday ...

Have to be honest and say it was a bit of a let-down, especially for the price.

I wish they had found someone to translate the text into English properly ... there are too many things like "42th street in Manhattan" and dozens of other not-quite-right bits and pieces.

Many of the photos are mislabelled, eg the second one of Elvis with "Merv Griffin" is actually with Richard Davis.

"Elvis with Jackie Wilson and his wife" is actually Jackie and singer Vikki Carr.

And there are a couple of on-stage photos from July 1970 ... July?! The engagement is even listed as such in the jumpsuit section.

Again, a proper editor would have been nice. Several sections are ruined by incredibly poor punctuation and graphic style, and there is little consistency.

And no, I'm not being too picky. At AUS$155, I expected - and deserved - better.

The photos overall are fantastic, with some rarities.

I'll have one more flick though it ... then I'm going to sell it to someone for the price I paid.

It's far from a must-have, I'm afraid.

The photos sound great, but at this time of year I won't be getting this book...too close to :xmas: lol
