In the latest Entertainment Weekly Brandon Flowers of the group "the Killers" had an Elvis related comment
..................I live with the ghosts of Frank Sinatra and Elvis here in Las Vegas. They were classy-at times. (he laughs) There was a lot more class in general back then than there is today.......

The Killers have another Elvis connection ;)
YouTube- The Killers - Read My Mind
It's a catchy song. It caught my attention when it came out a couple years ago.

Pop culture today is infinitely more inferior than that of yesteryear, there is little to no originality left and a real feeling of manufactured Idols for the masses (n)
The X-Factor and Pop Idol have essentially dumbed down musical talent and originality, marginalising corn fed dummies down a convey belt to mediocrity and fleeting stardom that burns out quicker that a supernova.
Unfortunately anyone with any real talent wouldn't want to go anywhere near this soul destroying formulaic band wagon.

It is true that the economical system that dominates the world today does delivers more manufactured crap for masses than original or genuine art expressions for the like of individuals. BUT, there was also tons and tons of crap back in the 50's, 60's and 70's, it just happens that we just remember the good stuff, the other bands are just forgotten for good.
Anyway, despite the crap dominates TV and the radio these days, there is also a whole lot of good stuff happening in music today, you just have to go and look for different channels of information, the net is such a blessing, both for the artist and the audience, in order to spread other options beyond what your local cable tv delivers to you by 490 channels of mediocrity.
