Thank you for posting this video. I heard Vernon singing this song before but enjoyed hearing it again.
I like his voice and I would love to hear Gladys. I wonder if there is anything out there with her singing. I think both parents were talented from all I've read.

Thank you Giorgia, yes this is the interview I heard. I thought she had a very lovely feminine voice.
She does have a southern accent May, they all did. I'm used to it and don't hear it like I used to since I married into a Texas family.

I think Gladys' accent was a lot stronger than Elvis or Vernon. Really quite a thick accent.

Oh, it would be great if we'd be able to attach songs on the threads Franny. I was already thinking about this as well. But I don't think it will be possible, maybe it would be against copyrights. I've just seen the maximum size if you want to attach a music file on a thread, it is only few hundred KB, so it is not possible dear. :'( :'( A whole song is usually more than 1 MB.

I was just a kid Fabian. All I know is that Dad handed me a round smooth cylinder of steel in my left hand to touch and slide over the strings on the neck of the guitar and showed me what strings to strum with my right. I practiced until I had it down pat.....end of story.

My wifes father was also a steel guitarist for almost 50 years-he also taught my wife a few chords and she could play-slightly.
He played in bands all his life-and played with Loretta Lynn, Floyd Cramer, Tommy Cash at different points in his life. In the 60s he just mainly played with local country bands and worked for the railroad for his regular job.
