In preparation for a six-part radio series on Elvis Presley, the BBC will be in Tupelo this month to interview locals who knew the rock 'n' roll icon during his childhood.
BBC employees will be in Tupelo on Oct. 29-30, searching for Presley's former schoolmates, neighbors, friends, shop owners, restaurateurs and others who knew or met him.
They also plan to interview those who remember Presley's parents, Gladys and Vernon.
The BBC plans to broadcast the series around the world over the BBC Web site in January.
Presley was born in Tupelo on Jan. 8, 1935. He and his parents moved to Memphis when he was 13. He died on Aug. 16, 1977.
