View Full Version : Elvis and Ali
came across this story on a boxing site. I've heard it before but never had it verified.
[Muhammad Ali and Elvis Presley
Elvis came to my training camp in Pennsylvania, stayed two weeks.
Nobody knew about it. One night I said, 'Elvis, do me a favor. I got a guitar. Please come with me down to Pottsville, little town nearby, this redneck place called poonies.' I called the owner, told him to let us come in the back door.
Elvis went up to the mike, towel over his face, took it off" - and here Ali imitates - "'You ain't nothin' but a hound dog, cryin' all the time.”
Then we flew out the door again.
Can you imagine bein' in a little one-horse town and Elvis Presley runs on stage? Man, people ran all outta the place lookin', gettin' in cars, tryin' to find us.
Elvis said 'Champ, I've never done that before in my life']
It's a cool story if true.
Anyone got the facts?

I ran across that many years ago and also wondered if there's any truth in it. It does seem far-fetched that Elvis would have gone to a training camp in PA with Ali for TWO weeks. I've never seen this mentioned in any of the books I've read.
I hope someone here does have the facts on this. Maybe someone should ask Ali....

Unfortunately, on alt.elvis.king you can't do key word searches anymore (so I can't provide the reference); however, I recall Marty Lacker replying to this statement, and he said (in his own unique, ,way, lol:lmfao: ) that it isn't true.
It's false.Ali was a great boxer and storyteller.

I don't know that he (Ali) was the best boxer, he certainlt maintained his good looks. A lot went against him burning his draft card. Not everyone knows it's the only reason he changed his name to Mohamad Ali..religious protest. Or whatever?
Regardless of this, Elvis liked Ali very much, they clicked...both had personality plus..I was told this story is God's truth. Did I see it, no. Do I believe who told me, yes. : )

I think the only time Elvis and Ali met one another was in Las Vegas in early 1973 that's it.
Ali was a fan of Elvis and has said his favorite song is Don't be cruel while Elvis was a fan of Ali's and had a robe made for him to wear.
(Ali wore it once lost the fight and never wore it again)
The story about Elvis going to Ali's training camp is B.S.

It just doesn't work, which is a real bummer!
Perhaps, as the site has only Trolls on it now, it's been archived by Google. Every key word you put in, even one's own name, it comes up with it's not there :( grrrrrrr such a shame!

Interesting statement, who are these Hollywood friends and family and are they on the record as stating such.
I would Imagine if Elvis was there for two weeks it would have been almost impossible to not have had a photo taken, even if it was Ali himself?

Of course you would ask this and I don't blame you at all..some have ask me to leave their names out.. My Aunt Pat Whiffing, was married to two Hollywood producers, and one Director (famous ones) I have friends, who are famous, and who loved Elvis. Some have since passed.
Aunt Pat was the hairdresser on Gunsmoke, for years. Also "Have gun will travel" She was the one who took me to the filming of the worlds fair..in 62 and I was able to meet and sit with Elvis.
I have never met Mr. Ali but someone should indeed ask him. That would clear it up.
I understand that you cannot just take my word for it. As you don't know me, my family or my friends, but please do believe I am a nice lady and do not ever mean to fabricate anything I pass along.
I've loved Elvis since I was 8 years old, I was lucky, I got to see a lot of him through the years.

The story about Elvis going to Ali's training camp is B.S.
And we have a winner, ladies and gentlemen. The Ali story is absolutely pure B.S. and has been discussed here (and debunked) before.
Ali's a great storyteller (or was) and this is one of his great fabrications.
It never happened. Period.
There's also a Youtube clip of Ali on the Mike Douglas show talking about Elvis and their phone conversations...
They only met in person one time in Las Vegas, NV in February of 1973. They never met at any other time. The 'training camp story is B.S. and I doubt that they even had phone conversations.
Several of your what, now?! ;)
I was going to say the same thing, Getlo, but rather than turn this into a nasty thread I'll just stay out of it.
The Ali story about the training camp is just a story that has taken on a life of it's own. It's a nice tale that just gets passed around as fact.If Elvis went to that camp for two weeks he must have went by himself and kept it a great secret.Just use common sense and logic when evaluating these stories.

Sorry, hon, but you've gone too far.

 Well, I was there. I knew Elvis and there was no hanky panky.
Do you take in consideration that it is a rare case when someone like me tries to fit in, and no one believes a word of it, they would rather believe the back stabbers who were "Elvis'" friends. Not to mention, ladies(girls) come and go, they are not likely to recall me, sas well as they do Sandi Miller.
I didn't bother them, but Marty Lacker was told to shut his yapper..by Elvis himself, when he denied me entrance to the back gate... I was invited, and to this day Marty hates me. LOL not a good reason at all.
I am who I say, and it went down exacly as I have tried to share. It is ashame that I can't share more with you. It hurts to be considered a liar.
To what perpose would I lie? I have none. I'm not wealthy or famous, never claimed to be. But I love Elvis, and yes I have ben a fan at almost every concert in my 62 years..from age 8.
Guy's please let up, this hurts my feelings so much that I cry, because I know it is true.:'( and I guess no one wants me to be here period?

Er, that's kind of the point, Genie. You keep doing just the opposite. You've never said who you are. You've loaded us up with vague and inconsistent stories, all of which can be gleaned from a decent-sized Elvis library.
It is ashame that I can't share more with you.
Because you choose not to.
It hurts to be considered a liar.
So stop lying. Tell us exactly who you are. But you won't; we've asked you to before and you always disappear for a while.
To what perpose would I lie?
To keep your delusion going. I have absolutely no doubt you truly believe all you've said, and have immersed yourself so far into it that you could probably pass a lie detector test at this stage, with flying colours.
Your fairytales have zero credibility when you simply say stuff like this, and expect us to swallow it without question. It ain't gonna happen.
I was one of many who saw through you from the beginning; others took longer. But they know now.
As an inveterate liar myself (mostly to the women in my life ;)) here's a tip for you: if you're going to make up tall tales, at least have the common sense to have your stories have some sort of credibility.
But you blew it ... the dates, times etc simply did not add up. Fingers in too many pies, someone else here said.
You were shown up on AEK by Lacker and others; again, dates, times etc, the Cadillac.
"When people lie, they make themselves look grand," you say.
Indeed they do, Genie.

Thank you, if you said you starred in "E.T" I would have no cause to doubt you. When people lie, they make themselves look grand..I would be lying to say Elvis and i were lovers, I have never said this because it wasn't true.Getting to him was sometimes planned, afterall I hold 3 degree's..I've spent almost as much time in the hospital as I did in college. Thanks to this illness, I am no longer a Vet. I am no longer an RN, if I should live so long i can renew my status' and I have a degree in Animal Science. So by now my whole face is in the pie..not just fingers..lol.. The Chow-Chow "Getlo" I have kissed right in the snout! : ) I petted the horses, so much to say, so little time.... but thank you just the same.
seems you have told so many "white" lies you forgot who you told and what you told them... always be ready to back yourself up when you lie about things..like i said in my other post to many fingers.. in pies if i was you just tell one lie at a time i am sure it would be easier.. as you get older the brain diminishes and you tend to be forgetful!

Guys take it easy please...
Genie, if you would want anyone to believe you, either here on TCB or any Elvis related site, simply tell us your name and the problems we are having now would not exist.
If you for some reason do not want to tell on this site, contact me, or any moderator and tell us... We will keep it quiet I promise, but at least we would know how to react to what your saying.
