Im just listenning too Event Number 8, and i became curious about this show. What i like about this show is that theres only the TCB band playing no orchestra. Makes the show seem a bit less vegas, which is great for a change.

Is there any quality footage of this show out there, except the bits of Elvis in the jeep? Id like to see how Elvis coped without the audience close to the stage. I mean Love Me without scarf throwing?? :supriced: its unheard of! :P And Love Me Tender, without kissing?

Also is there any clue to as how Elvis felt about these shows?

Whats your opinion of this show?

Only exist 8 mm footage. It´s a great performance without Joe Guercio´s orchestra.Very unusual.

Yes, unusual in a very good way. One effect of the lack of orchestra and distant audience was that Elvis was all business. To listen to this show you hear a very professional Elvis putting on a fantastic show. Vocally he was in top form, he sounded sharp and quick, and there wasn't a lot of messing around. It reminds me of a show from '72. It is refreshing to hear a show such as this from '74 that makes a nice contrast to those from a dark period later that year, which we have been discussing here of late in another thread.

Scroll about half-way down, and you'll read about one band members take on playing in the 'Dome with just the band and big bunch of backup singers!
Then of course, there's Gail's recollection of an event in Houston - post #28!

I like the orchestra sound on some songs but I think the rockers should have been done without much orchestration. So for the rock songs I like this.

Lisa,
The show I was talking about here was the one at the Summit on 8/27/76 or may it was 8/28/76....anyway that was this show.

The one at the dome in 1974 was the one where Rosanne and I went together with her parents and my mom and sisters. There was a similar thread to this one which is the thread where we reconnected. Lord - what a happy day that was.
