Does anyone know if Elvis still studied it in 1975-1977:hmm:

Yes
I think he fell out of practice after 1974.
His weight gain started up again and his drug addiction was worsening around that time so it's no surprise he didn't practice the last couple years of his life.
I never heard that he completely stopped but it always seemed like the last couple of years he lost the passion for that and most things. They could barely get him to record on schedule. Seems He was just lost by 77.

I agree JDD.
I think by 1976 or the fall of 1975 karate was the last thing on Elvis' mind. Maybe after he got that 8th degree black belt he simply lost interest because he had achieved the thing in karate, or one of them atleast.
Its hard to really practice if you are overweight and not in shape-you strain muscles so much easier and even tear muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Plus his life seemed (at times) to be on autopilot. Autopilot just runs the essentials.
Also Dr. Nick says that Elvis was having trouble with arthritis in his neck and back in the book "Elvis Up Close" and even his stage performances were causing strains so its no surprise that he did not have the desire of interest in karate that he once had.

With the way he went down hill so fast from September 75 to August 77 its no wonder he didnt or couldnt properly practice anymore:'(
Also in 1975 thats the year he had the Racquetball court built at Graceland and it became his new toy . I think He went through fazes with that kind of stuff, the slot cars, the circle G , horses, tractors and would get side tracked away from Karate .

Guys, no more of this now. Please. We have to give infraction points and I for one do not want to give them now, since I have seen it will result in a ban.

With regards to the comment by Chinese Doll, I recall reading that Bruce Lee was quite involved with making films from 71 - 73 which would inhibit his private teaching. According to an article with Linda Lee. Bruce did not dedicate a much time, 71- 73, to his own personal training as he had in the previous years due to the hectic demand of his film shooting schedule.
Also, fro, what I have read about practitioner's view of Chinese Martial Arts in that time period, I do not think that they were regarded too highly as offering "power" in self defense.
I think that in Alex Ben Block's book on Bruce Lee, Lee was supposedly offered role in an Elvis movie but turned it down, considering his role being quite secondary to Elvis'. Whether that is true or not, it would have made for a highly interesting presentation of the fighting arts given Lee's excellent fight choreography and Elvis' interest in the marial arts.

The photos are from September 74, the same time footage was taken for Elvis' ill=fated karate documentary.
Sadly his short-sighted manager nixed that project

Actually, Elvis himself pulled the plug.
The filming occurred in September '74, but Elvis withdrew the following December without a word of explanation.
The new Gladiators DVD explains this. Not very well though.
