Why would JAT Publishing send out a notice for Elvis Presley "Jailhouse Rock" book, with remastered recordings done by "Vince Everett" recording in the style of Elvis Presley, why not the real thing by Elvis Presley? This is produced by Felton Javis.

It also says "Vince Everett "Such A Night" for $11.00 The flyer gives the impression that more than one song is being done. It says: Songs are by recording artist Vince Everett.

I agree that does not make much sense.

It's probably because of EPE they own the name Elvis and Elvis Presley and they won't let JAT publishing use the name so as a way to get around this JAT publishes a Jailhouse rock book with Elvis character's name in the film instead.

Well then that makes perfect sense I would say.

It does not say this is Elvis singing these songs.

That's my point Tommy EPE won't let JAT use Elvis name so they use Vince Everett's name instead.

That is not Elvis actual name but the character he played in Jailhouse Rock
So JAT found a loophole.

I understand that part, but I don't think it's Elvis singing, anyway we shall see.

It's just a poster advertisement

They are saying it's Elvis playing Vince Everett in the film and Vince sings the songs.

that's it.

Doesn't matter sometimes EPE won't permit the use of Elvis name.

We shall find out soon enough whether it's really Elvis, but I'm not going to buy that not knowing for sure, even if they are using a loophole, they didn't say that, I realize that can't explain.

Here's what I think about this:

The recordings are not by Elvis.

This is a promotional item for the upcoming Jailhouse Rock book.
The flyer states "New JAT Special Product."

There is a 'Vince Everett' who is an Elvis Tribute Artist.
Thus, "These songs are by recording artist Vince Everett, performing in the style of Elvis Presley" is an accurate statement.

This is what first caught my eye - "Produced by Felton Jarvis."

Felton passed away in 1981.
His first work with Elvis was How Great Thou Art in 1966.

So to answer the original question of WHY do this?

A guess - JAT Publishing is interested in a promotional type item only. Their focus and business is book publishing and the majority of their resources will be put into the book. Besides, I'm sure 'RCA' is quite pricey these days!

Another thought - Was there a similar type of promotion in the '50s when Jailhouse Rock first debuted?
